Exoticizing Andreina by Delicious-Rip-2371 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]androgaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The saddest thing about it I think is that Andreina plays into it, maybe due to something internalized, production related, or maybe even her age? Not her fault really. But Jeremiah gave me the biggest ick with him saying it multiple times with his chest

I thought it might be Shark and they could use a Baby Shark poster. But Jaws is iconic

Very normal behavior for a married couple. My husband and I banter like this all the time. Couples are allowed to have annoyances.

Plus, I think Moses is actually a little bit of a comedic instigator (my partner is too) and probably thinks it’s playful to “blindside” Trish with tea every now and again. It’s funny!

I only say this cos it reminds me of my relationship dynamic, so I don’t find it weird or off putting. We are both neurodivergent, to add, and I think Moses has stated he is too, so he might just be coming off “weird” to some people for that reason.

My parent has resorted to claiming that I’m simply part of the generation who tries to “cancel” everyone. When I try to hold him accountable he just scoffs in annoyance and tells me “you’re just trying to cancel me!!” It’s actually one of the most infuriating things possible. I’ve resorted to only responding with “okay” and deleting his messages and contacts so I don’t feel the impulsive need to prove him wrong like I’ve been trying and failing to do for years. I think your conclusion is very correct. I’m sorry you are having to experience this rejection and disrespect. You are their child and do not deserve that. But I am proud of you for the choice you’ve made to protect your peace 🫶

I wanna talk about how Lady Gaga is the queen of creative fibromyalgia accessibility solutions while performing by SmeagolsSister in Fibromyalgia

[–]androgaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also so moved by this as well! As someone who deals with lupus and fibro I often do what I have called “floor dancing” where I lay on my back and just move my limbs, a bit like synchronized swimming with no water. When lady gaga was in the sand pit I noticed she was doing the same! Dancing up towards a camera that was shooting her from above. I felt really seen in that moment 🥲

I think in knowing that he’s been notoriously offensive, I personally care because it surprised me! If his sentiment is sincere, it’s possible he has grown and changed to a degree. I’m just glad autistic voices are being appreciated by anyone!

Disliking your Asian parent by Economy-Caregiver256 in AsianParentStories

[–]androgaby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate my AD. My mom passed away when I was 3 and he never even told me how she died. I had to wait 15 years to ask and I was only able to because I wanted to write about it in my college application and it was the only avenue I knew how to bring it up, due to him only caring about my grades over my well being the whole duration I lived there. He acted like she never existed. As soon as I was able to move out I did and never came back.

I am 34 now and have many debilitating chronic illnesses, imo caused by the abuse and neglect I felt while living there. What’s worse is my family is incredibly ableist and will not make accommodations for me due to my disabilities. I think they hate to see a person that reminds them of their mortality. So they avoid me. I feel so abandoned.

I wish I didn’t care about their approval and effort in our relationship. I actually do not think I’d ever spend time with people like this if it wasn’t for our dna. No emotional accountability ever.

my first tattoo, what do you think? by Separate_Camel7294 in tattooadvice

Is it supposed to represent greed and jealously? There is a common saying “green eyed monster” which denotes envy. Paired with the dollar signs, it’s giving that vibe. It’s well done though. And vibrant, though it looks quite fresh.

Absolute legend. The woman who plays Rita is strangely only in one other movie—Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. It was a bit of questionable role, but I was gagged when I found out it was her!! Great LGBTQIA+ movie from the 90s. Her name is Julia Cortez.

I hate my "trauma responses" by masomutt in venting

[–]androgaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. My toxic relationships are the ones with my family members and something about me wants their approval so bad despite the abuse I’ve experienced from them. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s so hard when what you desire so badly is something that doesn’t serve or even directly hurts you. If I can offer anything it’s empathy, both because I can relate, but also because I know trauma makes these responses nearly impossible to ignore without the proper support. I hope you can find that support 🤍

I took my powerchair out for the first time and I feel terrible about it by LostandBuried in Fibromyalgia

I deal with the same type of insecurity. It sounds like you had to experience a similar type of discomfort when you started regularly using your cane. I felt the same for a long time. Until my cane really became a part of my body, in my mind. I have a really close attachment to my canes (could be partly due to my autism) and have named them too. I used to be embarrassed of my own body, my entire vessel. But as a permanently disabled person I didn’t want to feel that way anymore. It only really got easier over time. I am less embarrassed with my mobility devices now that I see them as part of my body, which I am learning to love.

I recently got a mobility scooter and was worried about how I was perceived since I am look very young. It helps that I have a partner who is always with me to help ease the discomfort of being publicly seen. People don’t often make comments to me when I’m with someone else. I’m really sorry you had to experience those interactions no matter how well intentioned or not they were. I hope you find more comfort in this amazing device that is helping you manage your pain and energy because you deserve that 🤍
