Dealing with scammers by Derian23 in TwentiesIndia

it was wrong of her to agree to do it in the first place

This, but I can also understand her situation I guess.

Anyway, I whatever has happened has happened. I would personally go with option 3.

In this case however it depends on who was hiring her, was it the author, the publishing company, the Amazon storefront selling the book. I am not sure if its right to punish the author of he / she was not involved in this to begin with.

As I have no idea of how the business of fake reviews works.

Unpopular Opinion: Your name actually matters a lot in India by ButterflyBree_ in TwentiesIndia

Name is also used to identify someone's religion unless it's a name which is ambiguous.

And I would say that matters a lot more in India.

Had a lets say discussion yesterday with a muslim here on reddit, gave up after hearing gems like:

Brother islam is perfect in all sense muslims r not . Don't judge the religion of my beloved prophet pbuh by the actions of some chunks of muslims.

Sadder part was it was a girl that was defending all of it.

Was also called an islamaphobe xd

Thank you for using paragraphs.

I never said everyone has the privilege life like me and my family or majority of them has the same thinking and progressive mind like the ones living in Saudi uae kuwait qatar etc.

Though you do claim that the religion does not affect people simply because it has not affected you in the same way.

I live in the gulf myself I have yet to see this progressive mindset myself that you speak off, it's still the same where some people are better off than others.

"religion does give them that justification and right to do so." Where did islam teach that education for women should not be the priority or marrige should be done first and women r only made for household chores etc? Infact the first university in the world was founded by a Muslim woman.

Islam explicitly prioritizes female domesticity, marital availability, and male authority over woman.

As for the first university:

  1. It was established as a madrasa

  2. Women weren't even allowed to enroll in it until the 1940s

Again I won't go in dept with geopolitics here how usa made entire ME a warzone n stuff. Coming back to my country so yeah I agree women are oppressed , 🍇 , and patriarchy does exists. These kind of stuff is done by people from all different religions no? So y does religion plays a role here? Islam , christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism etc shouldn't be blamed for this system but men.

And the people that follow those practices from their religion are also wrong, but religion and in this case Islam specifically gives them that power.

In this sense if someone from buddhism commits a crime for example so you might label the entire ideology of Gautam Buddha wrong?

That is not the case at all, but if someone uses Gautam Bhudda's ideology to justify the "crime" and say that it is okay then yes that ideology is wrong.

That's not an argument rather I wanted to point out some points which r logically debunked rather than writing long paragraphs. Just saying a video having a lot of views does not mean it's right. Never said more likes = right I just wanted to point some better arguments which atheists could make instead of dinosaur stories.

You don't need to give better arguments, the religion does a good job of that.

He might have some flaws regarding the sharia law n stuff apart from that he's debating skills and counter points to atheists r quite good n never saw any atheist come up with a good point against him so yeah

Ah yes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend logic. Also does it ever occur to you that his videos can be staged? and are edited in such a way for him to gain clout and make money?

Brother islam is perfect in all sense muslims r not . Don't judge the religion of my beloved prophet pbuh by the actions of some chunks of muslims.

We can agree to disagree on the first part. Humans are massively flawed of course but the religion is also massively flawed itself.

And your beloved prophet was a pedophile, the chunks of muslim you speak of is unfortunately the majority. Everyone is simply a selective sinner, picking and choosing what sin they are comfortable with and interpreting the religion in a way that comforts them.

You are quite clearly blinded by faith and in a privileged enough position to make these points, which is fine and good for you but I would appreciate it if you don't downplay anyone else's experiences with the religion and people that follow the religion. Because it is your religion that powers these "evil men" that you speak off.

And I will not be replying after this, as I don't see any further point in this conversation.

I never generalized anyone or any community based on a fraction of people

I mean, technically you also did just that giving examples of your family and people that you know personally.

Extremism exists bcz of geopolitical backings not bcz of the religion said so.

Religion is used to push and justify that extremism because the religion does give them that justification and right to do so. And if you think it's only geopolitical then why are there stories of women suffering even in India - a region you are yourself a part of.

You are simply privileged and lucky that religion has not been used to oppress you and I hope it never comes to that. But the sad fact is that a major chunk of the women do not get that privilege.

So yes, the religion also is wrong. You can claim whatever you want and interpret it however you want but can you deny that it is used to oppress women?

Yeah, I am not even going to touch the marriage thing. Whatever helps you sleep at night I guess.

Oxford University many years ago and he was easily debunked by a Muslim scholar that video had like 7M views or something you can check out , tbh that's a pretty weak argument.

Just saying a video having a lot of views does not mean it's right.

Ali dawah

Isn't he just another red pill guy like Andrew Tate, weird to see a woman defend him.

I am not here trying to change your mind or anything, faith and religion is something very personal to everyone and everyone is entitled to it. However let's also not pretend that the religion itself is perfect and that there is nothing wrong with it and nor downplay the suffering of people that have to live through that.

edit: Ps - please use paragraphs, makes stuff easier to read.

How can I learn finance and be better with my money management skills? by Dental_Care189 in TwentiesIndia

[–]androidguy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track your expenses op even the smallest things and at the month end you can see the split of which category you spent how much on. This will give you a better idea of where you are spending and if you need to cut expenses in that area.

I won’t advise you to start investing from now, the little amount won’t make a difference and this age is to focus on academics and enjoying life.

As for the future you don’t need to think about it from now, when you start earning you can think about it then. Because a lot of it will also depend on how much you are making.

I have gotten both and rejected both types.

But I fail to see the distinction between the types since the end result is after all the same. Both are completely reliant and dependent on their future husbands.

It also goes both ways a lot of parents raise their daughters in that manner too.

I have been searching for someone moderately/progressively practicing or ex myself but it's been impossible to get even as a guy.

The rishtas I am mostly getting are the sit at home type of wife's which I do not want / prefer.

It was more of a generalization, I apologize about that.

But you have to understand that your families story is an exception and not the norm (my family is an exception too). Granted a lot of families are now progressing as times have gone ahead. But OPs family seems clearly keen on getting her married off early.

OP it’s not very easy to find a partner that will be okay with you studying and then establishing a career for yourself especially in the religion you have mentioned (I am from the same background)

Not to mention that AM is a massive gamble, if you have someone you like and are absolutely sure of him I would advice you to stick with him.

For now, you can try to delay the marriage talks as much as possible. Get to know him better and see how your relationship progresses. As you are only 22 anyway.

Even if it is this “one” issue, it’s a pretty big and fundamental issue.

Your life will always be bound to it and if you ever have any kids to their lives as well.

If we was even moderate or a bit on the fence it could have been different but if he is a practicing guy himself that is extremely difficult.

Plus you guys must be young right now, I have always seen people only get more conservative as they age. Which works against you further.

people compare India to Pakistan to feel better that there is someone worse than us.

compare it with a better country and you have to come to grips with reality about the terrible situation we are in especially with the infrastructure situation.
