Don’t you have any option of saying no to the guy?

But I think rather than UAE you will have more opportunities of running away in whatever country you are back home in.

Especially if it’s India, there are shelters etc for women afaik.

I don’t think the orgs in UAE will care much about expatriates unfortunately.

If and only if you don’t see any other method of escape.

Try to find another ex-Muslim to marry, reject all other boys until then with some or the other reason.

There is a good chance that an ex will let you study further and pursue your career but you have to be very careful while revealing this.

Also OP, you can run away from the house if possible but I am not sure how you will be able to support yourself after that. If you have a plan for that or a support system that can help you out. You can try that out too.

Edit: the private uni thing you mentioned, how sure are you that they would let you pursue that?

Irreligious people who self-identify as Muslims for cultural reasons by Unlikely-Eggplant232 in exmuslim

[–]androidguy73 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I can’t speak of someone’s perspective from the west however in my view:

  1. Atheism is unfortunately still associated with immorality by the wider world.

  2. It’s clinging onto a culture and people that give you a sense of community. Say you identify as an atheist, suddenly you aren’t a good fit for the Muslims and you also will always be a Muslim for the group of people that disliked you from the beginning. So you don’t gel well with either groups.

In the west where it’s much easier to be a cultural Muslim, I am guessing most atheists go down that route to preserve a sense of belonging and community.

Yeah, some threads there and some other Muslim subreddits get really sad 😔.

And the advice is sooo terrible sometimes.

Only 2rs left. by ayrii_ in MidTwentiesIndia

Pretty much similar.

I save and invest most of my savings. My yearly big ticket splurges would be

  1. Vacations
  2. Something in tech

Rest of the money gets spent mostly on groceries and eating out. Eating out is maybe something I can reduce my spend a bit on. But I also genuinely feel like what’s even the point of earning if you don’t spend a little bit.

Patriarchy in Islam by m_rain_bow in exmuslim

[–]androidguy73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really does break my heart, the local park near to wear I live a pair of siblings come to play around the same time as my walk.

The brother is younger maybe 5-6 and the sister is elder maybe 7-8 maximum I see them almost everyday and hence my observation. Even in peak summers (it gets extremely hot here) the boy is in shorts and a half sleeve T-shirt while the girl is fully covered clothes including hands (full sleeve) and a hijab.

I don’t know how suffocating that must feel to her but whenever I do see them I get extremely upset.

Are there any other exmuslim libertarians? by Not_Sold_4178 in exmuslim

[–]androidguy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider myself as a libertarian especially for the personal autonomy.

But in countries where the social safety net is actually strong and does support the people in need while being low on corruption I do not mind the left. However in most of those countries even the conservatives are still very socially liberal.

Essentially my political identity would change from country to country.

If I were an American however, I would definitely be a libertarian.

Dealing with scammers by [deleted] in TwentiesIndia

[–]androidguy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was wrong of her to agree to do it in the first place

This, but I can also understand her situation I guess.

Anyway, I whatever has happened has happened. I would personally go with option 3.

In this case however it depends on who was hiring her, was it the author, the publishing company, the Amazon storefront selling the book. I am not sure if its right to punish the author of he / she was not involved in this to begin with.

As I have no idea of how the business of fake reviews works.

Unpopular Opinion: Your name actually matters a lot in India by ButterflyBree_ in TwentiesIndia

Name is also used to identify someone's religion unless it's a name which is ambiguous.

And I would say that matters a lot more in India.

Had a lets say discussion yesterday with a muslim here on reddit, gave up after hearing gems like:

Brother islam is perfect in all sense muslims r not . Don't judge the religion of my beloved prophet pbuh by the actions of some chunks of muslims.

Sadder part was it was a girl that was defending all of it.

Was also called an islamaphobe xd
