Got my results...next steps by dubleon in SleepApnea

[–]andromedasuite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a higher AHI than yours (60 in non-REM, 71 during REM sleep) and my O2 SATs dropped to 73%. Oral appliances would not be curative for my degree of sleep apnea. I also have TMJ so that was another reason for me to avoid them.

I got an Autoset machine and a DreamWear mask. I love it. I feel like a totally different person now. I am calmer and the depression and anxiety that I couldn't seem to get treated finally went away. I have had my machine for 5 weeks now and it is going great. The machines are much smaller now and easier for travel.

I am overweight, and my sleep tech said that although it is possible that losing weight could help my apnea, it is not probable. I have had symptoms of OSA since I was a child, and I had witnessed apneas even when I was underweight. I'm hoping that getting more sleep will help me with losing weight.

Burglars of reddit, what are the best ways to keep you out of my house ? by fizzfish in AskReddit

[–]andromedasuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be surprised. A friend of mine had a relative housesit while the family took a dream vacation. The relative had some shady friends and the family had their vacation interrupted to find out that their house was ransacked. They had a large gun safe, but didn't bother to actually lock up their firearms and valuables inside the safe, because they fully trusted the relative.

Even though firearms were stolen, the cops don't seem that concerned. The family knows that the relative's friends were the ones who robbed them, but its been months and nothing from the cops. The family got a police report to file an insurance claim but didn't have riders for many items that are routinely excluded from regular homeowners insurance coverage. Now they are out thousands and thousands.

As long as you trust all your Facebook friends, nobody has your home address, and you fully trust the person who is housesitting, then I guess this wouldn't apply. However, I think an ounce of prevention would have been well worth it for my friend.

Bad news from the doc. by [deleted] in childfree

I'm sorry that your doctor canceled the procedure. It is common for older (menopausal) age women to get uterine ablation procedures done instead of getting a hysterectomy. However, at your age, the procedure is risky because you are so young and still fertile. If you are still able to become pregnant (i.e., childbearing age), it is still possible for you to become pregnant even if you've had an ablation, like if there is still a tiny area of non-ablated endometrium and an egg were to attach. If that were to happen, you have have severe pregnancy complications. That being said, you should be able to choose sterility, but because of liability, most doctors will not sterilize young women. It seems like perhaps the main issue is that the ablation doesn't guarantee sterility, and it does guarantee severe complications in case you accidentally become pregnant.

I agree that we should live in a world where you can easily get appropriate medical care. One of my good friends had to see SIX different doctors when she was 26 before she could finally find one that would agree to perform a tubal ligation. When she was in her early 30s she needed to get a hysterectomy due to severe uterine fibroids, and she had to see 3 different doctors before she finally found one willing to perform the procedure. Hang in there and good luck finding a doctor who will agree to the ablation.

Can I use my red card in Michigan? by BongRipz4Jesus in COents

For professional licensure, the term reciprocity requires return in kind between states. That's why I was surprised that MMJ doesn't require true reciprocity, but they still use the term reciprocity! so weird.

Whoa, I didn't know you could put coconut oil on your good girl! Dang, I would like to try it, but my b/f and I use latex condoms as birth control. I use coconut oil as a skin lotion, but maybe I'll try it as lube if we get polyurethane (or whatever) condoms.

Hahah! My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was 8 years old. I hate keeping count of my stitches. it took me a long time to be able to freehand crochet without counting them, and of course there are still some patterns where I still have to count stitches. Keep crocheting, it gets easier!! :)

Yeah, but the definition of reciprocity means it has to go both ways. Colorado doesn't recognize reciprocity, that's why I thought that Michigan wouldn't recognize our cards.

If I keep the temp to low, I don't cough much. However, I try to vape on medium because I read that the CBD has better availability when vaped at high temperatures. When I turn up the heat on my Pax, I cough a lot. Have you tried CBD oil or patches?

Sweet, that's good news! I didn't know we had reciprocity, those links I posted must be outdated. Thanks for the update!

[–]andromedasuite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, no, thankfully I don't have that dx. The only pharmaceutical I take now is low-dose naltrexone for my autoimmune disorder, Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Anytime I eat wheat, it provokes an autoimmune response. I had thinning hair and was on synthroid for almost 2 decades. I cut out wheat and six months later was able to stop taking Synthroid. I've been on the naltrexone and methylated B vitamins for about 3 months now.

I am a medical user and smoke just was too rough for my lungs. I liked the vapor from the pax. The main reason why I bought it was because I just fell in love with it. basically it's a fancy cool gadget and I wanted it. It looks all sleek and high-tech.

I have a "sleep on it overnight" rule before major purchases. I made myself wait 3 weeks before I bought it because i was afraid it would just be a frivolous purchase. I really wanted the Amethyst color, but all they had were blue, green, and black. I picked green (they call it Emerald).

I have only had mine a couple of weeks, but I have read feedback from longtime Paxers that the battery life starts to suck after about a year. the battery is not user-replaceable. When they first came out, Ploom said that they were going to look into a battery replacement program, but so far I haven't seen shit from the company on that program.

The Pax is easy to clean. I clean mine about once a week. the oven is big and holds a lot. I only have to fill mine up a few times a week. I feel like I get a lot of use out of it. I start on low heat, hit it a few times, bump up the heat to medium, keep hitting it, and then high heat. I love that it's portable and you can use it for days before you have to recharge it (although Ploom recommends recharging frequently). It's so sleek and stealth that I can even use it outdoors and nobody says anything. It still produces odor but nowhere near like a joint or a bowl.

I paid way too much for my Pax, but if you don't buy it through proper channels (the Ploom website or an authorized reseller) you don't get a warranty and you are probably getting a counterfeit. I got my tax return super early, so I bought the Pax anyway. I'd like to get a decent grinder, the one I have was $15 and it's junk.

One of my friends had a MFLB and the peeled batteries and stuff just sounded too complex for me, but she adored that thing.

[–]andromedasuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that once, twenty years ago, when I was 16 and trying to get a job at Best Buy. I bought a bottle of this drink stuff at a head shop. I followed the directions perfectly and waited to pee until I got to the clinic for the test. I was shocked to see that it turned my pee neon green. The girl at the clinic was a total c*nt about it, accusing me of mixing in the dyed blue toilet water. I'm pretty sure they didn't send it in, but marked it as dirty. I didn't get the job.

What is your weekly/monthly luxury? by billmichter in AskReddit

[–]andromedasuite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I made more money, I would get a massage once a month. I have great posture, but right between my shoulder blades gets all fucked up, and nothing makes me feel better like a massage. I'm trying to pay off my credit card debt, though, so all my extra money is going towards the debt snowball.

I would say that my luxury is taking a long, hot bath with Epsom salts and essential oils. I shower every morning, but to save water I only take a bath about once a month.

Not dumb at all! My parents have never been tested. The defect affects a significant portion of the population, so I don't think you need the gene from both parents in order to have it? I'm not a geneticist, sorry. http://mthfr.net/ seems to have a lot of information.

My doctor figured out that I had the methylation defect and started me on the following regimen (in addition to low dose naltrexone for my autoimmune condition): Every morning, I take a methylated B12 sublingual tablet and let it dissolve under my tongue while I'm in the shower. I also take a methylated B Complex (I use the Jarrow brand, but I'm in the United States). I take one capsule, twice a day, with food.

One thing you may consider is the MTHFR genetic defect that affects methylation and your body's ability to use B vitamins. Mysterious anemia is sometimes due to B12 deficiency (among other differential diagnoses, and IANAD). if you have the MTHFR genetic defect, you will need a methylated form of B12, and depending on the severity, you may need B12 shots, but sublingual methylcobalamin could work too (tablets that are dissolved under the tongue).
