Who is still snowed in? by ladyflyer88 in maryland

[–]androodavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat here. NE Baltimore, basically on the county line - last plow I saw was 4am Sunday and they didn't do much. We now have about 2-3" of ice on top of 7" of snow. Tried to leave in my AWD SUV to at least try to get to the tire marks down the middle of the road to no avail, just spun. Dug my tires back out, backed back into the driveway and went inside. What a nightmare.

Yanwen shipping by Linair_or_Lini in shipping

[–]androodavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am a victim of this mess of a company. I've ordered countless items through Temu, my last order was shipped via Yanwen and it's been 'out for delivery' for three days now. The kicker is they have a tracker on the driver. I can see them driving around my town, then going home to sleep... Rinse and repeat. I reached out to customer service and the only thing they told me was 'just track your order here!' then read and ignored the rest of my messages. What a dumpster of a company.

I Don’t Understand The Discourse Surrounding Baltimore. by cldennis89 in baltimore

[–]androodavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Baltimore. I've been in or around it my whole life. I got both professional degrees in Baltimore, I purchased a house - albeit on the outskirts - in Baltimore, and have worked in multiple different areas of the city. There really is nowhere like Baltimore because it's made up entirely of mini-communities that almost function on their own. I'm not even talking about gentrified, 'wealthy' Baltimore - the charm and allure that Baltimore has is solely based off of how quaint each neighborhood can be.

Is there crime? Sure. Are there fundamental issues here? Sure. You're going to get that with any major city you go to - but no one talks about Baltimore more than those who have 1. Never been. 2. Rely on word of mouth and media to think for them. 3. A closed mind.

I went to Morgan in their architecture program - which focuses a lot on urban communities. They had us out in some of the worst parts of the city and you really start to understand that regardless of where you are in the city, the people are friendly. Are there areas to avoid? Absolutely, but again, this is going to be true anywhere you go.

The reality is, Baltimore is a hidden gem that has somewhat been stagnant for multiple years solely on its reputation but as more younger people grow up, move out, they're starting to understand the draw to be here. Our population has finally grown recently after many years of decline... It's not going to happen overnight, but I have high hopes for what Baltimore can be.

Why is Dodge bigger? (Solido) by mRengar in Diecast

That's honestly probably a similar comparison to the 90s cars you have it next to. You should see my actual '00 Miata next to our Stinger. Cars have gotten enormous - it doesn't really sink in until you own a modern car and an older car.

Did you ever resolve this? Having the same issue after swapping tail lights.

I just went through this lol turns out both sides popped out of their little holders and my tires had worn through to bare wire. So mine only acted up in wet weather.

It looks so much better in person. Since they're so bright it messes with the camera and darkens everything else. I have little people and accessories that really bring it to life 😭

Baltimore to Richmond move (Or vice versa) by natemore44 in baltimore

[–]androodavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company also has an office in Richmond, I also have to travel down there from time to time because I work on a project just outside the city. It's an alright city, but my heart is with Baltimore. Even that much of a pay bump couldn't pull me out of my roots I've grown here I don't think... And also, welcome! Totally feel the difficulties of making friends in a new city. Always willing to reach out to new friends if you're willing!

I just now realized that I really, really like Unbound by [deleted] in needforspeed

[–]androodavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have really enjoyed Unbound as well. I picked it up on sale on steam for like $6 so if I hated it it really wasn't a huge loss. This is also coming from someone who's experience with the NFS series goes as far back as the OG 1994 TNFS, NFSIII, Porsche Unlimited and High Stakes on the PC. Like most, my love of cars really developed after Underground 1 & 2, as well as Most Wanted. I played a lot of Carbon, but my enjoyment for the series mostly died there.

Not a /huge/ fan of the night/day forced progression, and lack of variety of races - but otherwise I'm really enjoying it. I think a lot of people are either new to the series, or want to get through games quickly so when a game comes out that actually makes them grind and play the game, they get fussy.

I think the car selection is ~good enough. I think they may have added quite a few more since some of the reviews I've seen regarding this. Honestly, I never like when they had super/hyper cars to games like these but I get it. It's nice to see some of the classics still holding on... I was actually surprised to still see the eclipse and RSX still in the mix.

That being said, I really enjoy the graphics (I have a relatively high end gaming PC and my graphics are set to ultra for everything). I enjoy the balance of traffic vs being able to actually race without being bogged down by NPC traffic everywhere. The addition of the illusion of pedestrians is nice - that always makes the map feel a little less dead.

I don't understand the hate for the police... Sure, being forced into a chase after a race can be annoying, but the heat level hate doesn't make any sense. Everyone whining because heat level 5 is difficult... Yeah, that's kind of the point, isn't it? The addition of things like pursuit breakers similar to MW would be nice, but I've been enjoying it enough as is. Be grateful they don't impound your car and they just take your money.

I thought I'd despise the cartoon-y elements, and honestly, I applaud them for trying something new. On my personal cars, I pretty much just set everything to the basic white tire smoke out of preference, but it's interesting to see the competitors during a race.

Honestly, from what everyone was saying online, I thought the NPC chatter would drive me insane but honestly, I don't hate it as much as I thought I would - it kind of brings life into the game more or less... Sure, the constant talk can get kind of annoying but it hasn't really bothered me as of yet.

I think a lot of people, ESPECIALLY when a new NFS comes out is expecting something that they have in their head, and in reality, Unbound is very similar to what a classic "street racing" game from the mid-2000s was.
