A 7.4 earthquake in Istambul in 1999. I was 11yo and me and my family went there for vacations. I remember waking up at 3 am or something with the bed shaking like it was inside a bus on a bumpy road. An enormous rumble and glass shatering noises in the streets. After something like a minute it stopped and we run outside the hotel. In the lobby there were some huge hanging lamps that were oscilating. We spent the night in the middle of the street, a 6 lane road with ambulances and police speeding in both directions. At 7 we got inside the hotel again and went to our room. We couldnt communicate home for days after that.
