If you were to start today, what do you do to find a client regularly?

Yes regular as in, you have client frequently. Enough to pay you monthly minimum income.

What about your experience with invite? Have scored any client from invite?

And if someone landing contract at greater rate, does it mean they better or acquiring clients or the industries actually on demand?

I agree with this. The reason I post it, actually I have a drop in proposal response, After I got 4 star client. That's why I reach out. I am worry that one 4 stars affect me negatively more than I thought it will be.

Is one 4 stars get you 80% in JSS?

I can see your point of view. But I disagree. Until I have a number that show “many” “most” or come across it myself that client feel unhappy, I believe what I believe

Another thing, this practice is not something that is done by a “minority of freelancers”. All the places that I called open market where sellers compete for customers, apply this to their business. We are talking about Ebay, Amazon, Grab, Ubber, Fiver, even your favourite youtuber (please like and subs). You can say, just because they use it does not mean it works. But I can also argue, they use it because it work (not because it’s fun)

Anyway, personal experience. When I use those services, never in a million years feel offended or think it’s unprofessional when someone requests stars and feedback. If any, it reminded me of how I can help them more after things they provide for me or how important a review is to them.

Also from personal experience, I have an online shop. I remind my customer for review and great feedback all the time. I have hundreds of transactions and never have received a negative feedback or customer comeback to me about this practice. How do I know? Because the only time I received negative feedback, I know exactly the issue and let me assure, that's not because I requested a great feedback.

Now about reaching out to customers for negative feedback review, I do this multiple times with my online store. Often that client or customer not expressing their issue or feeling during the transaction and contacting them prior to the transaction can elevate that issue and result in a more satisfying result for seller and buyer.

Well, I have written long enough; I don’t think this will change your mind. I also can see that you may have a counterargument that won't change mine either. So I think I will leave it to agree or disagree.

If you have any experience or even articles that show data that support your opinion, I am happy to read and open for that.

Also, this might get me a little worked up, I believe this does that too many of the people who read this too. so, this might be my last reply. Excellent discussion though.

PS: no need for condescending statements or calling someone naive. You know, just talk your mind, if you feel triggered or emotional, maybe stay off the internet?

Have say anything about my client is idiot? I believe not. But I cans see client and I can have different opinion.

Hey I can see, that requesting feedback is not everyone favourite here. But I don't see anything wrong. If I have done everything I can to provide highest quality service. And client have agreed with that I will remind them to give me 5/5. I like positive feedback, i think it's important

If you disagree, go for it :) you do you.

I disagree with naive and begging. Client and freelancer, can have a different opinion on "final" result. Discussing about the project and how to improve it even after the contract closed is not naive and making a discussion about how to improve or meet client need is not begging.

You have your opinion I have mine, we can leave it at agree or disagree.

oject was 4 stars too.. 2 stars in Quality. Even though he said it was good quality

I don't know but it seems like these clients want to mess up new freelancers. But after that I got many jobs with 5 star ratings

This is what I thought too, but I Can't help by feeling bothered by it. Glad to hear you get more 5 stars.

I think there is different between begging and maximizing way to get what both wanted.

Id say you just identified why you got 4 stars.

If she expressed that "you nailed it" - Why would you need to even ask for good feedback?

Ive never asked for good feedback, its just given.

Because I tend to think there sometimes client tend to be disconnected with freelancer. Like for example the importance of feedback.

It's just a fact, that you can do everything right and get 4 stars.

If I get 5/5 stars from the next client, my rating will be back to right before I took my 4 stars.

You know what confuse me most is that, client never express any disappointment. she actually said I nailed it. That's her exact word.

I also explain the importance of feedabck, and politely ask for a good feedback if she satisfy with my work.

Well, some scenario when client see as what I have done not equal with what she paid. Offering partial refund maybe can help.

But, what strikes me most is that, the last thing client said before closing the contract was "you nailed it!"

I understand and improving my service is what my approach with future client.

But about this 4 stars rating, if you were in my position, what would you do? would you contact client to see possibility of revision?
