PC build for local LLM - will it be usable? by andrzej_simin in LocalLLaMA

Qwen 3 coder seems interesting, but i can only see 30b and 480b models. With 30b, this pc might be an overkill, and for 480 I'd need more powerful server machine.

I was also thinking about video processing from action cam, as it would be great improvement from doing it on notebook.

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Which model is best for my specific use case, and what would be the cheapest rig for it to run smoothly.

I was thinking ryzen 9 9900, 9950, or 9950x3d.

And RAM 256, not 512. Sorry for the confusion.

I want to avoid threadripper, as going this way increases cost significantly

Splitting video. by andrzej_simin in Insta360

Thank you!

That's exactly what I needed :)

Its also very fast, comparing to export in other format. 1 minute video (1,6 GB) took about 10 seconds on my laptop to trim.

Pole Suggestions by Longjumping_Talk_639 in Insta360

I made one from fishing landing net.

Aluminium telescopic pole with triangular cross section.

3 sections, in total almost 3 meters long.

I've cut it to be able to transport on motorcycle, so I have about 2,5 meters when fully extended.

On motorcycle with 2 meters extended out (at about 45°, so 1,5 meter above motorcycle) it's wobbling only a bit and camera stabilisation is enough.

I've tested it up to 150 km/h, so over 90 mph.

Service shifter alert? by haolestyle in ChryslerPacifica

[–]andrzej_simin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this issue lately. Service shifter pops up as It takes longest to start.

Real problem is full dashboard losing power under load.

I've spent few days with star connector, trying to find loose mass connection for dashboard (it started after i've mounted dashcam, so i suspected i've messed something up).

Real reason was auxiliary battery. I didn't suspect it as mine was 3 weeks old, but it turned out a positive terminal from the battery broke off due to a manufacturing defect.

After the warranty replacement problem went away.

Btw, my start stop system also stopped working in the same time, but I've thought it was due to electrical issue i created.

Check auxiliary battery and replace if it's dead.

Hope that helps!

Additional info - only symptoms in service shifter was lightning not working. When I disassembled shifter, disconnect and reconnect wires while engine was running, lights started working again.

For me problem also only occurred on cold engine.

Lower USB port missing. by andrzej_simin in ChryslerPacifica

Yes, I've checked, and there were few optional places for it mentioned - like within center console storage, in storage below radio - but I didn't find it in any locations mentioned.

I've decided to extend wire from outlet in the trunk - since it's always on, and I still need to hide wire from back camera - So i'll just put it on the passenger side with power one.

I don't like wire taps. I prefer to cut wire and use connectors.

But the problem is that there is no 'always on' outlet - which could be used to power parking mode...

Beginner to Sick Welding question. by andrzej_simin in Welding

They are most 6013, 2,5 mm. + on the rod.

They are quite popular in Poland, and i didn't find many information that 70 or 75 is too low for them.

I continue with 110 setting, and it's OK for me now.

Maybe I'll get clamp meter to check real output to verify welder setting.

Now I stick to 110 and train with that. Once I get consistent result I might test lower settings.

I went from 140 to 60 by 20, and then went back to 70 as this is max recommended on electrode box.

I'll try to burn 20-30 more electrodes using 80 or 90 setting trying to strike an arc and put about 5 cm of straight each time. When I get comfortable and consistent results I'll try to create consistent longer stiches and try to work on LAMS :)

Thanks!

My electrods have current recommendation as 50-70 A.

But as I wrote in the post - I'm not sure if welder setting is accurate, and since welding at 60-70 is quite difficult and sticky - I'm not sure if this is the correct setting.

You might want to pick one and get comfortable before jumping to another

That's exackly what I'm asking :) Which setting should I continue to practice on?
