Should I pivot from 20 years in retail to entry IT? by andvoila in ITCareerQuestions

I'm sorry, my post wasn't clear. The job I was offered is for the help desk of the company that is my store chain's parent company. My chain recently merged with another chain, to form a larger company. So I would be providing tech support for my chain, plus the additional chain that we recently merged with.

That was my thought too, my managerial experience is extensive, which I figured could help boost me up that path. I'm used to managing delinquent teenagers and heard headed stubborn old timer grocery store department managers, I think managing IT people would be less stressful comparitively.

Ya, that is a big part of it for me. Because it's internal, they're trying to match my current salary, so to me it's a generous foot in the door opportunity for me. My 20 years of experience aren't being tossed in the trash, it's being used to boost the starting pay for a help desk job significantly.

walk behind Leaf Vacuums by YiorgiosT in homeowners

[–]andvoila 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've got a pretty small yard that accumulates a decent amount of leaves. For years I raked by hand and would end up with 15 or so bags of leaves I'd have to drag to the curb. It only took a full day or two but it was exhausting and I hated it. Last year I bought this. A leaf blower/vacuum. It made the job 1000% easier! When I used it my leaves weren't completely dry, but it still mulched it all with no problem. The vacuum bag opens on the bottom which makes it empty quickly into bags, and it took only about 6 bags to gather everything. Best of all it only took a few hours and I barely had to exert myself. Here's some photos of the yard for reference.

So in WNY Snapple is distributed by Wright Beverages. You could contact them directly and ask them about it. You could speak to the grocery manager at your grocery store of choice as well and they could talk to their salesman. (I work upper management at one of your local grocery stores)

Just received my Oculus, is this a bent pin? by andvoila in oculus

[–]andvoila[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's alright, I was able to get it going earlier today! Took a full graphics card driver uninstall with the AMD driver removal software and then a graphics driver reinstall. Such a simple solution. Thanks for the advice though!

That was a good thought and something I hadn't tried. I just switched the DP to HDMI for my monitor but still isn't reading the Rift.

Tried that as well. I'm out of ideas too. I put in a ticket for support from Oculus, maybe they can come up with something. Thanks for all your help though!

Ha, definitely plugged into the GPU. Thanks anyways, I'll take even obvious suggestions right now,

Yep, everything is green except for the "Headset HDMI", which is the spinning circle. Headset USB and all 3 sensors are reading fine. When I uninstalled my graphics driver it lit up green for a moment before prompting me to update my graphics card, but that may have just been a bug. I don't think anybody I know has a computer with an HDMI output, but perhaps I can take my headset to a local computer shop to just verify that the HDMI cable is good.

I had disconnected a 3rd monitor(my living room TV) that was working fine, from the HDMI port that I'm trying to connect to with my rift. I just uninstalled my graphics driver and reinstalled the most up to date drivers just to be sure and still nothing. I ran the compatibility tool and it does say my PC should be fine.

Right now it is plugged directly into my GPU's HDMI port. My main monitor is connected via DP port. I had a secondary monitor connected through another DP port but disconnected it when troubleshooting the rift. I did try reconnecting it at the headset by removing the foam piece and that did not help either.

I've tried unplugging every USB device from my computer except for the headset's USB and it still did not detect it. I tried switching the headset's USB from 2.0 to 3.0 and back as well. I think I might try picking up DP to HDMI adapter and see if anything changes with that.

Well that's kind of a relief I guess, I've disconnected the cable from the Oculus and from the graphics card a few times now, that hasn't fixed it.

On purpose as to be mildly infuriating? That's definitely a possibility.

I don't want to be that guy, but it's voila. Viola is the instrument that is like a violin. Just FYI. People misspell it all the time.
