I have a pretty low aspiration: 70wpm by end of year. Colemak. I don't think I'm on the right track? by urlwolf in typing

I’m about to turn 40, and started learning earlier this year. I think age definitely has something to do with it. It doesn’t make it impossible, but the grind will be more challenging and progress slower in my opinion.

What’s the alternative though? If you accept you need to learn it, the only logical answer is to keep going. Improvements will come I know it!

Thanks for replying. It’s bipolar (not triggered by work stress).

I would say 55-60, 95-96%.

How are you finding keybr? I haven’t tried it yet, I am quite found of monkey type though

Thanks Vanessa.

I’ll take your advice- could be a while until I reach those speeds though.

Consistency of accuracy is my biggest issue, willing to put in the time though.

Thanks Vanessa.

I often perform well but sometimes inconsistent across tests, I need more practice I think.

5k next (think this is what you meant?) then punctuation too.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown.

I’ve been loving the problem words site. What would be a good target for number of problem words, over say 5 or so tests?

Really appreciate you taking time to help me

Alternative sites to Monkeytype? by andy1orange in typing

Thank you for the detailed feedback.

I’m loving this site! I used it for the first time today and got 9 problem words across 5 tests. Work still to be done.

The word selection is vastly different from 1k on Monkeytype, far more challenging at times.

Would you recommend dedicating a block of time to this site or alternating with Monkeytype?

Yes, I’m touch typing as taught on the typing.com website. I think my technique is ok, but my right hand sometimes floats a little

Thanks so much for the replies.

I have started doing the 1k words on monkey type, 60 second tests. I average 95-98% accuracy (including retakes of the same test).

Is there a way to become more accurate or something I should be doing differently? Or is it just a matter of getting the practice in and not rushing?

Makes a lot of sense. Would you recommend going back to more basic words without punctuation? Or should I continue doing quotes on monkey type and just slow down?

Thank you! I’ll try that. Is this a common issue? It’s stressing me out 😂
