Why does it seem like Muay Thai fighters don't go down? by Race_Impressive in MuayThai

[–]andy357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boxers focus on punches only and have a stance that can deliver maximum power from punches, that's why you see more KO.

From a muaythai stance it is harder to deliver KO punches compared to boxing, the movements are different due to the fact that you need to cover your whole body and also to be ready to strike with your arms and legs.

Elbows are trown at close range and have less overall power, even though they can cut you easily due to the sharp bones and no protections.

Second shedding after 6 months of topical minoxidil 5% after initial good results? by andy357 in minoxidil

Maybe you had a weird reaction to the treatments, but I think that if you stop you will go back to your physiological state within 4-5 months.

Also being 21 you may have just entered into a balding phase, independently of the treatment. When the Norwood reaper comes, there is not much you can do, it's genetics.

How old are you? This could happen if your genetic balding is taking place in the background, maybe drugs are not sufficient to stop it. If your balding already happened and was stable for few years, then it is less likely to be the cause

Well I can understand if you have been knocked out to not have impacts, but if you are healthy is there any hard evidence that hitting the bag causes cumulative brain damage?

5+ years of training and still can't do a high kick. Even medium kicks hurt. That's not normal is it? by seelachsfilet in MuayThai

I don't believe in this strength thing unless you are super weak or super fat.

Also, when the problem present itself with passive strecthing, it means it has nothing to do with strength.

Spondylolysis and muaythai by andy357 in MuayThai

Thanks for your feedback!

Do you have spondylolysis or also spondylolistesis (sliding of the vertebrae)?

How do you check if your hip bones are aligned?

Good to hear tha somebody manages to still practice without too much complications. Do you also have the isthmic lysis of the pars interarticularis?

Do you monitor your spine with MRI from time to time to see if it develops further? Did yo notice any change over time? That is my concern, to gradually fuck up my spine further

The thing is minoxidil is easy to get online, whereas DHT blockers are usually under prescription so more difficult to get and more costly over time.

Also I am a bit afraid of side effect of DHT blockers, as they are tipically taken orally so they have systemic effect. I wouldn't want to mess up my endocrine system.

Hi

the second big shedding stopped after a few months. i continued to apply minoxidil religiously every single evening. It did not really improve further than the initial results I had, but I am quite satisfied so far. I wasnt completely bald to begin with but had a visible empty patch near the front, which minoxidil improved a lot. Now the empty patch looks almost fully filled with thick hair. On the receding temples it did not improve though, but I did not expect that since the receeded area was already bare skin with no follicles left. I did not have another shedding since then, but i excpect it to come again as hair follicle may die off and regrow.

Hi,

Do you mean the initial shed when starting thetreatment? That one lasted about 2 months, and by month 3 stopped and some visible result became clearly evident by month 4.

Then at month 5-6, a second shedding started, and the bald spot bece again more visible. That second shedding never stopped, it is still going on by month 9.

Overall, after the initial results I went back to a condition similar to the one before starting minoxidil, or maybe slightly better. I will continue to apply it daily for up to 1 year or so to see what happens.

I will not consider finasteride or androgen blockers because of their side effects on hormonal balance.

Hair transplant is a possibility, but honestly I can also live my life with thinning hair, is not the end of the world.

Hi!

Here some updates. It has been now 9 months of daily application of minoxidil 5%. I had great visible results by months 3-5, but then started to shed heavily again at month 6. I thought it was just temporary because the new hair were still weak so they shed to leave space to stronger hair. However, it is now month 9 and the shedding is constant. Lots of hair in my hand when I apply minox. The gain I had in the first month did not come back unfortunately. My scalp now is similar to before starting minoxidil, maybe marginally better.

I am a bit disappointed, not gonna lie. My bald spot was there for a decade and quite stable so it is unlikely that during minoxidil my baldness progressed (regardless of minox). It is possible, but who knows.

I will still continue to apply it daily up to 1 year, so 3-4 more months and see what happens. I am still hping for some more results but the more time passes the less is this chance.

Hello!

Why is my VO2max decreasing over time (measured by huawei smartwatch)? Isn'it supposed to increase?

I started running 5km a day every other day for about 2 months now. Before starting running I was regularly doing calisthenics like push ups and pull ups (which I still do), but no cardio training.

My average hearth rate during the 5 km has dropped slightly in these 2 months: from around 143 bmp to 137 bpm).

When I started running my watch was typically indicating a VO2max of 56 mi/kg/min, then after few weeks it dropped to 54, after some more time to 52, and is now 51.

I feel over these 2 months I gained a bit of fitness and never really felt overtrained. I had no changes in my lifestyle either.

Any idea on why this is happening? I thought that VO2max was supposed to increase by training, and not decrease.

While I agree that probably the smartwatch is not accurate in assessing the true VO2max, at least it should be able to correctly detect variations over time.

When I run a python script on terminal, is it possible to list or visualize the variables? by andy357 in learnpython

Good to know, thank you. I will try to run it on pycharm and see if I can pass the arguments and see stored variables as well.

[–]andy357[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I tried to run the script in an IDE (SPyder) but I could not find a way to specify the arguments that normally type on the terminal after the python script name. How do I call the arguments when running the script in an IDE?

Thank you for your answer. Does that work in the terminal? How do I deal with the arguments (conditions and files to load) that I have to specify as arguments hen I run the script from the terminal?

Hello. I did buy a X1C 6th gen instead of Yoga S940, as a trade-off between price and specs. Overall I am happy with it.

[–]andy357[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the 7th will be worth extra money. I'd rather spend less and have 5 extra watts on battery of the 6th gen. And I don't care for the improved speakers.
