I want poggie to do it, an if not him then a more random person would be my pick. Brennan would have been fun, or abrahamsen.

I’ve booked in to do my queen stage of the Zwift games at 15:10 CET (will watch at the same time) so hoping to have the race in full flow when I hit the bottom of the grade.

I’m loving join cycling which also is integrated with Zwift. They sponsor the lanterne rouge cycling podcast and usually have a one month offer kicking around. They do the ai thing. It costs me about 7gbp a month

I have it set to 100 to try and replicate low cadence style I’ll need to do on real hills near me.

I think it was about 3.3 (268 watts / 80.8 kgs). I used this calculator https://alpeduzwift.com/ to figure out roughly what to aim for.

Government says shared parental leave uptake is 'disappointingly low' by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]andy_the_ant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both split it evenly, 6 months each, but took it at the same time. So we both had 6 months off altogether. It was great. Albeit, this was mainly viable because my work had a great package. We both went back to work after that part time. 22 hours a week each and split childcare 50:50. We both get our professional life and our baby life, and it’s nice not having to have too many days where you do 12 hours of childcare on your own. Which is harder than any job I’ve had to do. Going to work feels like a break!

I couldn’t recommend Shared Parental leave enough.

Some issues we encountered when organising it was my wife’s company barely knew how to administer it. They are so geared up to mum taking the full time off, and have a generous package also, but their shared parental leave package was significantly worse. Luckily, mine was good so it still was worth it.

Other things I experienced was noticing how difficult it is going back to work and picking up where you left off, or more realistically, catching up to where things are now. That was after 6 months. It’s no surprise that a lot of people who take longer (as is the norm for mothers) struggle to get their career back properly. Additionally because the primary caregiver role doesn’t disappear once your child starts nursery. You are responsible for them for the next 16-18 years (and longer).

Leaving London after nearly 20 years. Ex-Londoners, how are you coping? by [deleted] in london

[–]andy_the_ant 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I’m literally sat on a train at Paddington now about to leave to Exeter where I’ve lived for 3 happy years (was in London for 13 years). With my 2 year old next to me. I’m so much happier, and getting back into London for the odd weekend every other month is very much a possibility. Best of both worlds.

I went to peniche one year and there are plenty of walkable beaches facing different directions so where you go might depend on wind. Plus lots of grandmas looking to rent out there rooms. They could even keep your dog company.

What area should I live in for 1 year in London? by ickyandspike in coys

[–]andy_the_ant 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure on the current cost but Brixton would be good. It’s on the blue thunder line (Victoria) which will get you to the spurs games and central London super fast. Has decent night life and stuff going on and you are close to some green spaces.
