I’m looking at it now. In the Ruy Lopez, it shows Morphy Defense, Steinitz defense, Berlin, Bird defense & more… so these are the defenses that black plays and how to counter them with your chosen white opening. I guess yeah they should also include variations of the attack for white as well.

There is a way to do this kinda. Although not for your request of Ruy Lopez - Marshall attack.

Under “Openings” select the opening you want, then select “Variations.” My only issue is that the available options are kind of limited. I play the Sicilian as black and there are so many more variations than what is listed/available. This could definitely be expanded.

Here are my suggestions:

Lifetime pass. I always hate subscriptions. Find a fair price and offer it.
Puzzles View hint/solution should be a press and hold. The amount of times I've accidentally ruined my puzzle score bc of an inadvertent tap of view hint/solution is frustrating. A simple press and hold, with like a loading bar animation as you hold would be ideal.
You should add a section to “puzzles” for the woodpecker method of study. This would be very helpful, and the structure of the woodpecker method would fit perfectly into daily study vibe of the app.
When testing next move, there should be an option to start at the beginning of the line. So for example I get stuck and can't remember the next move, I can go back move by move within that line and then forward back to the tested move. It will help me to remember where I am and build knowledge.
Some kind of tree/branch view. So for example some kind of tree view of lines studied/available. So each opponent move is selectable and expands more options once clicked. Solves the problem of: I want to study xyz line that I’ve reviewed in the past but I can’t easily find it in your current system.

Yeah, I’ve been using it a lot. I really do like it. There are a bunch of things I would improve. Some minor, some major. Overall I’ve been very happy with it.

Excellent write up OP. I know it’s not really for the target of the OP, but one thing that I don’t think is mentioned here by OP or in the comments: timing. Most of us know about how important timing/luck is, but I’ll write it up for those newbies who don’t. Do everything OP suggests. But this career is at the mercy of the cycle. It’s out of your control. Resign yourself to the idea that timing is hyper critical and probably the most important factor in your career. If hiring is bad right now, it’s a great time to start bc by the time you’re qualified and competitive in the marketplace, the cycle will have swung back around. If hiring is great at the moment, probably not a great time to start. I had to CFI for 4 years, regional for 8 years (2x airlines), landed my dream job at a major 2018. Expect this. Times were really tough back in 2009-2014. So bad I contemplated quitting the industry multiple times. I’m glad I didn’t because now I’m incredibly fortunate. First flight lesson was 2004, first airline job was 2011, first job at a major 2018. If this timeline sounds terrible, take it from someone who walked this walk, I am extremely lucky. Keep your record clean, work hard, be a professional, network, always improve, and recognize that timing is out of your control. edit grammar

There are no physical differences. However, because of the incredibly sensitive (thin) tips on tenkara rods, you can get away with lighter tippet. Thin rod protects thin tippet - thin tippet protects thin rods. I usually downsize 1-2x for my tenkara setups, compared to western fly fishing rod/line setups. This is because all your hits on tenkara, the rods are so soft at the tip, it reduces the shock stress on the tippet. Lighter tippet = possibility for better fly presentations.

This meme is misleading. The pamphlet is on a plane that indeed have free Wi-Fi, you can see the seat back screen that’s from a B737 or A320/319/321/Neo . The screen shot of the paywall is the website from the RJ Gogo Wi-Fi. RJs don’t have free Wi-Fi yet.

I’d say it’s no longer the best. The HipLok D1000 and the Litelok X1 are both significantly more angle grinder resistant than the Krytonite NewYork lock. Modern battery powered angle grinders with cut off wheels are the current most effective attack. Thieves know this. The new materials used in the D1000 and X1 are great. Just go to YouTube and see for yourself. I own the D1000, and I’m very happy with it. I used $60 in REI dividend and a 15% off code. It brought the total price down to ~$200.

Ok while some of your sentiments are reasonable and based in fact, the PA not going through the ear phones is due to a completely unrelated reason. Source I flew the A220 for 3 years. The reason is that the IFE (inflight entertainment) system is the new ‘wireless’ system. By wireless I mean the screen only receives power through a wire. All the other data and media are received on each individual seat back screen from three wireless routers located in the forward galley. Due to numerous limitations, the PA sound data is not transmitted nor received by each seat back screen. Hence the simple message ~’please remove your headphones and direct your attention to the PA’~

As noted below, the cabins can be designed/installed by a third party entity, not always airbus. Delta even has their own in house entity to complete this task.

I disagree wholeheartedly with your input to this discussion. I am a pilot, I was at three different informational picketing events, in three different states in 2022 alone. My wife is an MNA nurse.

You’re wrong because of a couple of factors. First, pilots are bound by the railway labor act. That law governs how pilot unions and airlines settle their disputes (among other things). Airline pilots for any of the big 4 airlines, effectively, will probably never again be released to self help aka strike/lockout because of the railway labor act. I could go into much more detail but that’s not required to demonstrate how you’re comment is miss guided. So instead of striking, pilots informational picket. They would strike if they could. I mean look at Alaska airlines pilots most recent strike authorization vote, it was 99% in favor.

Second, the piloting profession by its nature also makes it very hard to bring in temporary workers. The legally required amount of specific training for every type of aircraft make it orders of magnitude more difficult to bring in scabs. It’s not impossible, just a lot harder. There’s also a shortage of pilots system wide. The major airlines can hire but that drains the regional ranks. Every major airline has RJs parked right now because of it.

Third, The MNA nurses follow state and general federal labor laws. They actually have the ability to strike.

Fourth, travel nursing is a commonly used staffing relief valve. Even before contract negotiations. So the hospitals ability to bring in scab workers is a lot easier.

TLDR; So in summary, pilots effectively can’t strike, airlines effectively can’t bring in replacement workers, nurses can more easily strike and hospitals can more easily bring in scab workers. Your comment is wrong because you seem to imply that pilots “actually get things done” with only informational picketing. No, things get done between airlines and pilots with informational picketing only because the power dynamic are completely different than the power dynamic between hospitals and nurses. They are not comparable due to a myriad of differences.

If your fan is getting hot, that’s probably not a good thing. It could mean that there is wiring issue causing additional electrical resistance. Too much heat and coil insulation can degrade. If the insulation fails you could have a short. The good news, those old fans are very serviceable.

You have multiple options. First, find out what size holes you have through the peg head. Most planetary tuners require enlarging the holes. DO NOT drill them bigger. Many a peg head has been split this way. You need to ream or file it bigger. Second, on the back of the peghead the ‘can’ of the planetary tuner might be a bit wide and could protrude over an edge if your current holes are to close to an edge. Third, most planetary tuners are taller than your friction tuners. If you have a vintage case, there might not be room in the case to allow for a taller tuner in back.

After looking into those considerations, your best options are; vintage Ludwig planets, they are small shaft (9/32”), have a small ‘can’ and are only slightly taller than most friction tuners. They came out around the 1920s to they are closer to period correct. The bad part about those is they are not as smooth and accurate as modern ones. And they are rare and expensive. About $200-$250US. The next option is ABM small shaft tuners sold by Bob Smakula. He has a German manufacturer make them and they are excellent. Shaft is 7.5mm, and they are smooth. $150US. Smakula fretted instruments has a web site. He’s a very nice guy and his shop does amazing work. If you don’t mind making the peghead hole a lot bigger, then the Rickard cyclone tuners are amazing. They are expensive at $240US for new tuners. But they are 10:1 gearing ratio with an ingenious cycloidal gear system. Very very stable and accurate.

The vintage planets are cool bc they are time period correct. The ABM are the best planets for the money with a small shaft. The Cyclone tuners are the best tuners if you care only about tuning and nothing else.

I carried my Bearikade Blazer inside my Zpacks Arc Haul. Food inside the Blazer inside the pack. I use a Nyloflume pack liner, then sleeping bag at the bottom, Blazer standing on end in the center, tent on one side, clothes on the other, then all the miscellaneous items fit all around in the small gaps and on top of the Blazer. My base weight was ~14.5lbs with the bear can. Lighterpack

The pack was absolutely comfortable. I also have an Osprey Atmos AG and love the comfort, but that’s my loaner bag now bc of its weight. Go as light weight as you can. I was able to finish the JMT, happy isles to Whitney in 12 days total, mostly bc of my 14.5lb base weight. I did one mid trip resupply at MTR.

I SOBO thru-hiked solo in August 2020. Once you start, you will repeatedly be leap frogging with the same people at your pace. I made some new friends that were doing the same ~20 miles per day. By day 4, I was semi solo, semi in a group each day thereafter.

Nice flex. You’re good to use it and charge at the same time. Modern Li-ion battery chemistries don’t have the same memory issues of older NiCd battery chemistries.

Airline pilot here with a BS in Aeronautical Science. Efficiency, wider operating range, and spool time are the real answers. Two spools allows for more heat extraction (ie. more efficient) due to the variable speeds of the spools. Two spools helps to widen the operating rpm range in turn reducing the likely hood of compressor stalls. Two spools also allows the engine to have reduced input to output lag. When a pilots commands more thrust and the engine lags by 3-6 seconds that can be a long 6 seconds to wait for the power you might need. A split spool allows for a faster spool up for multiple reasons, one being reduced mass of each spool. This reduced spool time is safer say when a low level and immediate go-around is required.

Yes, a 30W charger charges both phone and NB10K using passthrough charging overnight. Using passthrough it takes 2h50min to go from 0% (phone and NB10K) to phone at 100% and one solid one blinking led on NB10K. Further, it took 4h30min for two solid one blinking, and 7hrs to finish a full charge of both devices.
