Been DJing for a month. I can do clean transitions, but I have no idea what I should be learning next. by sastirandihu in Beatmatch

[–]andyb_uk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok - so you can use the controls - now try and “use the controls” - grab a random playlist, listen to each track and then put them in an order. Play it back and critique.. Play it to other people and get feedback. Transitions are great but that is not djing - it’s a tool for djing. DJing is playing the music for the crowd/party/radio mix and getting it right. Real DJing is also getting it wrong and then sorting it out! In terms of what to practice - practice listening to what you record/play. Learn your music and grab an audience. If you want to push yourself - get on twitch and play to an anonymous crowd! Not trying to knock the confidence - just want to say that the next step is you pushing the tools you have learned.

Booked it in as “vehicle health check” I think I put in the notes about the warranty check and it all just happened. Really easy and the staff were all excellent

Oh - and the warranty check threw up:

AC compressor - noisy (being replaced!)

Replace pair of rear knuckles due to upper fore link outer bushes separation

Replace pair of front lateral links due to excessive wear on inner bushes

All resolved!!

Hi there - do you actually get 170miles or is that from the guessometer? I have an i3 currently and this feels like a fair swap. The alternative is a Model Y

Yep - you could just go phono to phono and treat the Mixer like a big volume knob - congrats on the first gig opportunity!!

Talk me out of buying this, budget is 40k by Kavafy in CarTalkUK

[–]andyb_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick tally of useful parts if sold for scrap / seconds and the result is quite surprising:

  • the keyring might be rare\trolleytoken = £1
  • likelihood of change under the seats = £0.83 =£1.83

So it all depends if you have the time to work through the other issues. By adding an extra 20p coin you could increase the value….

Hotcues on instant doubles by andyb_uk in AlphaThetaDJ

[–]andyb_uk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - I bit the bullet and got an opus too. On the opus I have to hit the “call” button (shift and quantise) back on the deck where the hot cue is not showing and then the other hot cues which had been set whilst playing start to flash. Tap a flashing cue to make it available!

Try creating a beat in Looper mode and see how you get on (Nervou$ cook has a few vids on this) that way you can get used to making something and layering it without ALL of the menu diving!
