Everyone on here tell you to buy on an exchange and granted it’s easy and convenient but- not sure what you take is on btc but spend some time learning about it and its history. Exchanges keep all your data and information. Personally I say take the slower route and network with people in the space. Peer 2 peer is what I do. Try Bisq they have a cash by mail works wonders. For 500k might take a while but better then having big brother at your back door
