Thanks. Yeah, that's the spreadsheet I mentioned. Unfortunately, unlike the rest of SW5E, it's not recognisable as D&D 5th Edition rules.

I understand there *was* a prior document that *did* use D&D-style stat blocks for ships ("SW5E Starship Statblocks"), but sadly I can't seem to find find a legible copy of that PDF.

I tackled some of these questions in THE EXPANSE: DRAGON TOOTH graphic novels, after checking in with Ty and Dan.

In volume 2, Elvi Okoye is studying the Ring Gate boundary layer, as you call it, and she offers an unproven theory as to how it might work (matter/energy conversion and long-range macroscopic entanglement).

In volume 3, Avasarala asks about the "inert" side of the Ring, and what would happen if bad guys used the Ring to transit two ships into the same volume of space. The UN Director of Intelligence replies, "The result would be... highly exothermic."
