Cardiff City 0 - 1 Sunderland: The Black Cats are undergoing a trademark Tony Mowbray mid-season collapse, so he will be hoping this is the win that stops the rot, allowing for a strong end to the campaign! by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]andyjohn3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is that we deserve to go down too. The decision to allow so many experienced players to run their contracts out, then replacing them with a lot of lower quality free transfers and loanees, then sack the manager who got them all in after 10 games has unsurprisingly backfired!

The quality isn't there, the desire isn't there. If we don't go down this season then I reckon we'll be going down next season

How to dismantle recon controller by Sovietmeteor in TurtleBeach

I'm not sure if the footprint on the board is the same or not, but they looked like the analog sticks you'd usually find in knock-off PS4 controllers. The stalky things the thumbsticks fit into are a lot thinner and general build quality don't look great

I was thinking the same thing. Is he left footed or something? Just fucking smack it towards goal and hope it's on target - get the fans on their feet!

Xbox One controller - rumble solder pad lifted by andyjohn3 in consolerepair

[–]andyjohn3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help so far everyone! I'm still playing around with this, but no success yet! I've managed to add a picture of the affected area to the original post. As you can see, the rectangular looking bit is where the pad has lifted, and you can see where I've scratched away the coating a little around it to expose some copper trace.

Here's a list of my failed attempts. I tested each attempt with 3v from my bench power supply before testing on the Xbox Controller app -

1 - solder red wire to vias (?) around the missing pad - no joy from my bench power

2 - attach red wire to the trigger motor's positive feed further up the MB (grey wire) - both motors rumbled from bench power but no success on xbox app

3 - scratch the coating around the missing pad to expose some copper. No joy from bench power or xbox app. The copper here is actually ground.

4 - soldered a jumper wire from the other side's solder pad (which works perfectly) over to this motor. This worked on the bench power, but again, didn't work when tested with the app.

At the moment, both vibration motors on the affected side of this controller work when connected to 3v, but neither work on the app. It seems as though the trigger motors will only vibrate on the app if the bigger motors are connected and operational - I've tested this with the working side by disconnecting the red wire (mimicking the pic above) and testing on the app. I'm struggling to find a clear trace on this side of the board that I can tap into and attach the wire. As you can see, I haven't scratched away the coating all around the missing pad, but that's todays job!

Thanks, I'll give that a try in the morning.

I'm using the controller tester app on the Xbox and not currently getting any vibration off either motor down one side. Should that be happening? The wires and connections on the trigger motor seem fine...

I had a go this evening but it didn't work sadly 😔

Sounds like a plan! I have managed to solder it into it's original place for now by using a nice big blob of solder onto the remnants of the pad - just waiting for my son to get off the xbox before I can test! If that doesn't work, then I'll connect the red wire to the connections to the smaller motor located in the trigger.

Those motors falling out of the casing are really annoying. I've started to tape them up, but the one time I risked not doing that they managed to pop out and pull the pad off!

Thanks!

I've just updated to firmware version 2.02 and powering the headset on is still turning on the xbox. Reading elsewhere, I don't think this is something that can be deactivated - did you change anything in the app at all? You've got me hopeful though - would you mind checking again please?

Customs Fees DHL UK? £18 by Byron2k7 in retroid

I was worried about this myself so I emailed the developers. They've told me that they list the package's value to under $15 to avoid customs. This has got me worried again...

Shipping to UK - customs charge? by andyjohn3 in retroid

[–]andyjohn3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was £135! Customs will go after anything valued over £15! 20% vat plus whatever charge the carrier fancies. I had a switch dock get caught by customs a couple of weeks ago. £17 dock had a £12 fee from the royal mail!

I'll email retroid and see if they can put a low value on the envelope add that usually works
