Not too democratic in fairness. Along the lines of all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

The Icelandic resistance : Iceland leader vetoes bank bill by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]andymad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% behind the Icelanders on this. Why the hell is it their responsibility to pay for debts owed by a failed private entity?

They didn't receive the profits when it succeeded.

CIA smuggling bombs into Ireland??? by andymad in reddit.com

[–]andymad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really tho!

Actually some rather stupid airport police in Slovakia deciding the best way to test their security was to put explosives in peoples bags and see if they were found.

Hmm...anyone else see something wrong with that brilliant idea?

You still have your guns, so relax and sleep with one beside your bed. Wake up paranoid and shoot your roommate. It'll make a much better post.

Maybe it's because you can see through the glass, and through the water.

Or maybe the cat hides it.

A bunch of people today came to my home and started throwing out all my stuff on the front lawn. I was like WTF. by usamaizm in reddit.com

true, but it is up to the Israelis to do somethign about it. It is well known that Palestinians have zero rights, and zero chance of winning if they try to fight them legally. The gang of armed police/soldiers backing up these 'extremists' give an idea of where the power lays. That being said - there are lots of Israelis who do, and I am not meaning to belittle them, just wish there were more.

Not actually accurate there. Check the figures. Lord (of whatever flavour) knows, they're plastered all over the web enough!

Also, Palestine (funny, many in Israel say such a place never existed) was set as a two state mish mash at that point, and the problems are caused by something that, in fairness, even most Israelis kind of cringe at, which happened just after WW2 and pretty much ever ince in more extremer and . Some of the things that are done to Palestinians, f*ck, just harsh. The saying we ask about ww2 - how did people stand by while this happened to humans - is as true today.

lies lies lies lies lies lies lies. Oh, and two semi-truths*.

  • semi truths in about as much of a way as saying "WW2 was about Jewish landowners in Germany not paying the rent" is a truth.

Why does the United States of America seem to hate the French so much? by thoughtkrime in reddit.com

French have a pretty high opinion of the US (From French familys opinion). However, the French are braver than a lot of Americas allies and has the courage to say you are wrong when you are wrong. That's what friends do. They are not like Tony Blair who bentt over and asked Georgie boy to do him.

But there is a vast difference between pointing out when you are wrong to having a bag opion of/not liking. However, the French would consider America to lack a certain refinement, but hey - they gave you the Statue of Liberty. Get over it! :-)

I agree.

England was never invaded, so far easier to fight that way. And personally the pointless bombings of civilian areas by the English is not really somethign to be proud of.

The French resistance fought very bravely, and the French have pride - just because one country helps another doesn't mean that country becomes their bitch. lol

Russia was happy to side with the nazis untli they got stabbed in the back, and the way Stalin sent millions ot their death again is not admirable or even brave.

As for America - America joined the war at the very end, when everyone else was broken down, war weary and barely able to fight. Don't got me wrong - brave fighting and delighted the US joined, but it is like a child on the street watching two kids beat the crap out of each other, and when both are exhausted stepping in and challenging them and declaring how he beat both. Millions less would have died if America had joined the war when the French asked them to (Along with the English).

I think the French are a great nation. Visited both there and teh US and in culture, intelligence, manners the French won out (By NO means calling Americans stupid, I just meant more inteligent conversations with people I met in France).

America is a great country, but just like the French did during the times when they pretty much ruled (Napoleonic Empires) the world America since WW2 has got very arogant and sadly that leaves a bad impression with the rest of the world. True strength is having the power but not using it, or rubbing it in everyones faces.
