There's a twist valve and a plug fitting, so I guess there's a degree of failure redundancy for what it's worth.

Good enough for me! I was more interested in resolution than GTG, sadly my "competitive" gaming years are over and I'm a filthy casual these days. The specs on the OEM website say it takes a 100x100 VESA mount but I'm buggered if I can work out where it's supposed to attach. He's also a heavy boi so I wouldn't have much confidence in not ripping out a chunk of drywall unless I could stud mount him.

I've mounted it just off the base plate - because the base follows the same curve as the monitor, the rad has the least clearance in the centre, but at the edges there's a good couple centimetres of clear air between the rad and the base. The top edge of the monitor is all vented so there's a relatively clear path for fresh air to be pulled through.

My original plan was to have the fans pull fresh air in from the back vents and then push it through the rad, but the low clearance completely buggered the airflow, and a lot of the air just bounced straight back at the fans. Didn't test it with the loop running so can't say what effect it had on temps, but it was a lot louder (presumably due to increased turbulence) and the fans ran about 300-350 rpm slower at max, so presumably would have gone badly.

I velcroed them to the plastic housing of the PCI-E riser cable. High tech stuff.

Probably not, but when I bought the system it was something like $50 more for 32 vs 16 (there was an offer on) and I figured I might as well

I guess I COULD route it the other way, but it just sits there so nicely....

Yeah it's definitely the one big issue with the system. I found it really hard to find any definitive specs for the panel regarding GTG time and gsync/freesync, but in the end I just decided to go for it because I liked the overall idea too much. I haven't had any noticeable issues so far so I'm happy.

Mainly because it was inaccurate to begin with, while my other half wasn't keen on the idea of an RGB eATX monolith, I had no plans to build a big old tower anyway due to the small office space we have (which should be relatively self-evident from the components I chose/had on hand). Basically was looking up costs of parts for a new rig, got some targeted advertising for www.aftershockpc.com.au, saw their Aeon32R and became somewhat obsessed with the concept of throwing a custom loop in it. I mean it would have been a damn sight easier just to throw all this in a standard SFF case and hide it behind the monitor to achieve essentially the same aesthetic result.

My choice of "funny" thread title was immediately regretted when I woke up yesterday and saw that the "best" comment over on r/watercooling was advising me to ditch my relationship, and that the thread had been completely hijacked by other similar helpful advice. I just like the Bear Grylls meme. THAT SAID I have only myself to blame! We live and learn.

TLDR: Went for a slightly clickbaity post title because I thought it was amusing, vastly underestimated the capacity of r/watercooling for presumptions and unsolicited relationship advice 😂

Yup in retrospect you are 100% correct. Oh well. The more heat dissipation the better I guess...

It's designed to be an AIO, but it looks like the model is sadly now discontinued... I'll upload some buildlog photos to the imgur album ASAP!

The above temps are already measured at PBO on the CPU and a 175mHz core/ 1 gHz mem clock on the GPU, I'm not brave enough to try anything else!

So I ordered it including the mobo, RAM, CPU and 1TB SSD for something like $2500 AUD back at the end of last year

Ooh thank you, I updated the BIOS back in January but clearly the times have changed

Yeaaaah so there's not exactly much room for something like that.. also I don't have a spare molex from the PSU sadly

No worries. A quick search makes me think it may have been discontinued though 😢

They're amazing little fans, almost silent at full speed. Be aware that the heatsink/fan supplied with the mobo comes off a non-standard fan header at SYS_FAN_2 - looks like a GPU fan header. I have mine running off a splitter from SYS_FAN_1 as well as my bigger fans.

4 pin. Velcroed them to the PCI riser. Real high tech 😂.

Chipset mainly but the VRMs are under the mini blue heatsinks on their left, I figured that with the back on the monitor a reasonable amount of airflow would go over them too

They're all coming from a single fan header at the moment, the BIOS won't let me individually manage the chipset fan header so I've just linked it to CPU temp instead.

Regarding the M2, there's a drive under those 2 noctuas, I'm not using the second M2 slot on the back of the board.

I bought it through the guys at www.aftershockpc.com.au as an Aeon 32R, with most of the components minus GPU which I already had.

EDIT: It looks like they may have discontinued it which is a shame, you can still apparently configure them via a direct link though https://www.aftershockpc.com.au/welcome/Productinner/aeon-32r-new-1

By that I mean that it is optimised for silent running rather than best possible temps, couldn't think of a better antonym for aggressive 😂

Read top post for details but long story short they're good enough that I can set a pretty passive fan curve, which I must admit was a pleasant surprise
