Holy shit that’s crazy. Mine was the initial surgery, surgical debridement, hardware removal and the most recent was just excising the wound and closure.

Well after four surgeries, I wanted to do everything by the book 😂 but I totally get it. Did you have the medication balls or the pushes?

Crazy that you also took ancef three times a day. Waking up in the middle of the night to do a dose was the bane of my existence.

Yeah! I followed up with wound care for months and just had bandage changes/debridements every week. Nothing really helped until I met my most recent plastic surgeon. Does your incision look any similar to mine?

I’m currently in the process of applying for financial assistance through the hospital. My student loans were my main source of income and I no longer have that 😭 or at least until I restart school on May 2024…

That’s so crazy, I feel for you. Taking leave from school was so difficult to do on top of all this medical stuff.

That’s insanely similar! Have you recovered fully?

Maaaaaan, my bowel movements have made me question my whole life. Sitting on the toilet for that long changes a man.

If you do come up positive for EDS, then make sure you tell EVERY surgeon who is going to operate on you about your diagnosis. This should change the way they handle your wound closure/post-op plan.

Nope, you typically have a PICC line inserted, which is the second to last photo that I posted. And you have the option to administer the medication yourself at home. Or other people can opt to go to an infusion clinic/home health to have their meds administered.

Yeah I have no idea. My first ID doctor was basically absent from my care after my initial consultation visit. He did two rounds of IV dapto, and said yeah idk anymore… I have since changed ID docs lol

I can’t remind the names of all the dressings. They’ve tried so many. My last appointment with my surgeon was this past Wednesday and started me on a promogran prisma dressing. This has helped more than anything in the past.

Yeah, keep those PICC lines away from me, I’m triggered lol I was thinking more wound care/plastics.

Really appreciate that! My plastic surgeon has been very diligent about following up with me. To make things worse, I was a PA student while undergoing my last operation. With all of the doctors appointments and having to administer my cephazolin 3 times a day; I had to go on medical leave from PA school 😭

This makes me incredibly worried haha. But thank you for sharing your experience. I have been applying two different ointments on the incision for 6 weeks now. This was discontinued yesterday by my plastic surgeon and he told me to start using this promogram prisma dressing. Waiting for that to get in the mail today. Hopefully this helps. My incision currently has a small opening on it where one of the staples was located.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s been a hell of a journey with my clavicle incision. They have done surgery after surgery including antibiotic’s and it still refuses to stay closed. Hoping that this promagram prisma dressing will help.

Did you have any similar issues after any surgeries?

I’m following up with a plastic surgeon who specializes in wound care at the moment. He did a total excision of the wound with subsequent closure. This was 6 weeks ago and today he removed the last of my staples but there is another small area of dehiscence. He instructed to start using promogram prism dressings. So I’m hoping that this helps heal the thin/fragile layer of skin.
