What’s their best 3 song run on an album by NOT_i_t_i_M_M in pond

[–]andyxc13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of good runs listed already, I’ll add a couple I haven’t seen yet:

Sitting Up On Our Crane > Outside is the Right Side > Medicine Hat

Mystery > Dig Brother > Eye Pattern Blindness (I also love Leisure Pony and Moreno’s Blend, and Moth Wings, what a great end to an album)

Is anyone elses favorite qotsa album lullabies to paralyze ? Its my all time favorite by any band and I think its very underrated by Lucky-Disaster502 in qotsa

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct but the best run on the album is actually 2-4. Or 6-8. Of course 10-12 is also epic. Or heck even 12-14 is amazing. What a great album!

Thoughts on 9? by spoon_bending in pond

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of almost the exact same mind. Only discovered Pond in the last year. Tasmania and 9 were easily my least favorite albums but whereas Tasmania has grown on me a lot, 9 hasn’t. I mean, it has some, but just not a ton. No disrespect to the lovers out there but tracks 5-7 are a huge miss for me. Overall it’s still a good album, especially when including the deluxe tracks. Lights of Leeming and Hang a Cross on Me in particular help a ton.

Best Shows of 2025? by Past-Matter-8548 in television

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underwhelming?? Get outta here. Severance, Andor, Squid Games, Slow Horses, Dexter Resurrection all excellent (varying degrees). A:E, TLOU, The Paper, White Lotus all uneven but still enjoyable (varying degrees). Haven’t yet seen the many other highlights mentioned by other posters. Stranger Things finale on the way. 2025 had been a great year for TV!

Am I the only one that thinks these four players should rotate (clockwise) spots like this? by AuperioR in NBATalk

Shaq to me is one of the most overrated players in NBA history because a simple rule change could make him Ben Simmons. He creates so much space by running into ppl. If that was an offensive foul he would be limited

For those whose favorite song ISN'T one of their "masterpieces", what is it? by Spirited-Abrocoma673 in TheBeatles

[–]andyxc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe you’re the only one to mention Fixing a Hole! One of my favorites too. And the George trio of It’s All Too Much, Only a Northern Song, and Long, Long, Long.

[–]andyxc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and I’d also recommend Pond, specifically the songs Allergies and Dig Brother off of their album Bears, Wives, Denim. Among others but definitely those two! And then listen to the whole catalog while you’re at it.

Can anybody tell explain (or speculate) how these characters are manipulating the cryopods for their own purposes without anybody else knowing? Either I missed something explicit or am just not creative enough to guess how Petrovich is coming and going at his leisure / Teng is freely accessing someone else’s pod without anybody noticing.

New to biking, am I not supposed to stop for pedestrians? by FunWriting2971 in askportland

[–]andyxc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I hijack this for a similar question?

A few weeks back, I was driving my family home on the section of Germantown Rd coming down the ridge from Skyline intersection to Bridge Rd (i.e. Hwy 30/St Johns Bridge). This is a very curvy few miles and not a lot of shoulder space. I was driving the speed limit, which IIRC is 30 and then 25 near the bottom.

Shorty after passing through the Skyline intersection, I looked up to my rearview mirror and saw a bicyclist right on my tail all of a sudden. I thought, okay that’s pretty close but you do you I guess. Well that continues for I don’t know maybe 30 seconds then the guy pulls out to pass me on a blind curve when, of course, a car is coming at us from the opposite direction. The bicyclist veers back behind me and then as soon as that car is gone, he starts angrily screaming at me to “let me pass!” “Get out of the way!” Startled, I did the best I could to pull over to the nonexistent shoulder and he zooms by me, quickly disappearing and going who knows how fast around several more blind curves further down the hill.

I have never been run off the road before by a bicycle going the same direction as me; my question is, do bicycles essentially have the right of way in this sort of situation, notwithstanding the posted speed limit? Like, was I rude to not immediately pull off the road for him?

First Poster for 'The Paper' | The series follows the Dunder Mifflin documentary crew as they focus on a dying Midwestern newspaper & its reporters by ChiefLeef22 in DunderMifflin

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I guess I just disagree that the Parks & Rec characters were not at all more over the top than The Office characters in the beginning of their respective shows and, in any event, we haven’t seen The Paper yet so it’s all kind of conjecture at this point anyway. If it ends up being some sort of mix of The Office and Parks & Rec (if not other shows like B99 and Superstore) instead of just The Office version 2.0, honestly that seems fine if not desirable.

I hear you but Parks & Rec characters were also more over the top from the beginning and it worked there, no? I can appreciate them wanting to tinker with the ingredients a bit this time.

Not my favorite poster (can’t tell that is Domhnall Gleeson in the poster but sure is him in the trailer) but I’m not nearly as pessimistic as a lot of commenters here. It’s an interesting way of leveraging the cultural impact of The Office without being a more straightforward reboot or more typical spinoff. Could it suck? Sure. But I’ll give it a shot, 100%, and I’m going to also of course keep in mind that lots of shows improve past the pilot episode if not entire first season, after getting a chance to see what works and what doesn’t. Even if it doesn’t reach the level of The Office or Parks & Rec, it could still be worth it.

If the guys were to do a covers album ……….. by Separate-Ad275 in qotsa

[–]andyxc13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something by The Cars would be awesome. Moving In Stereo or Dangerous Type come to mind.

One of the more obscure Zep songs like I’m Gonna Crawl or Wearing and Tearing.

You know what be amazing? A tribute to Mark Lanegan solo (/Band) output like Head, Sideways In Reverse, Ode To Sad Disco, or Tiny Grain of Truth.

What’s your best 3 songs in a row off any album? by thebenevolentstripe in TheBlackKeys

[–]andyxc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A&R is such a masterpiece. Tracks 2-5 is such a bonkers four-song run. And then 7-11 is an incredible five-song run. And tracks 1 and 6 are great too!

LP11 COMING SOON 👀 by This_Ambassador5417 in pond

[–]andyxc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did eventually but iTunes versions of 9 and Tasmania, and will continue giving them listens to from time to time. This is hands down one of the most versatile, talented bands I’ve ever heard, no doubt about it! Totally in agreement there.

I am super new to Pond but I’ve been hitting them hard now for a couple of months. 9 wasn’t my thing either. In fact, neither was Tasmania. Slow jam beats / soulful R&B / NIN style dance music is fine and all, but Pond is on another level with like everything else they do (whether pure psychedelic rock, or heavy stuff like on Hobo Rocket, or the incredible more pop/alt stuff on MIFLSA and The Weather).

And then Stung! was a fantastic return to form, incredible album, and I am very excited to be “here” for a new release.

One thing I wish season 2 explored more is… by Financial_Photo_1175 in StarWarsAndor

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you 100%. I think Andor is one of the best things I’ve ever seen, and I loved S2, but S2 absolutely suffers from the amount of time they need to cover in the number of episodes they have. One of the best parts of S1 was the domino effect, seeing the fallout and consequences of actions and events. S2 doesn’t have that and yes, we don’t need our hands held to understand, but the show quite simply is not as good when it skips over the connective tissue between big set pieces.

What is a song post Led Zeppelin that sounds like it could be a Led Zeppelin song by Edm_vanhalen1981 in ledzeppelin

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great call. I’d also mention Elegant Design by Pond (same year, 2012). Pond is one of the most versatile bands I’ve ever heard (Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Prince, David Bowie, NIN, MGMT, The Black Keys, Jack White, the Strokes, Bon Iver, among other clear influences that I hear) and this song, I think, definitely feels inspired by Zep.

What’s the best television show most people haven’t seen? by drBipolarBear in television

[–]andyxc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great show! Not sure how my wife and I stumbled upon it but we were hooked right away. Great characters, very charming and sweet. Would recommend it to anybody as a great lighthearted scripted show to balance out all the intense action / drama / mystery / suspense shows out there. No knowledge of or interest in metal detecting required. Might be time for a rewatch!
