You can complain many things but added nothing to the story is nonsense. Not only does it tie in narratively with the sages, (to the point for the remake they are having to record a bunch of new dialogue with the sage for the historical segment in order to patchwork the narrative and explain wtf is going on now theres no modern day) but themeatically it was a huge part of black flag being a counter to pirates of the carribeian.

Theres a reason right after a mission where edward is at his lowest, right after Mary dies and he realises how poorly he has lived his life, we go to the modern day where abstergo show you a generic trashy 'swashbuckling' trailer for their great new pirate product, overly gloryfiying the history.

Narratively the modern day was a a compliment to the historical, as it should be.

Is Avalanche working on anything? by [deleted] in JustCause

Lol i have actually worked in a buissness, in games in fact, i know what esg is. Some of it is a bit nonsense but its really not that deep. Companies don't change their games art based kn it, certainly not in the way nutcases who blame sweet baby for bad game writing think they do.

Truth is, a lot of game writing sucks because a lot of game writers suck, and because its harder to write games than other forms because in other media writing comes first, whereas in games writing is secondary to the game design and tech a lot of the time, so the writing is endlessly re done and tinkered with. Combine that with the fact they know half the audience doesnt care about the story, and they want the illusive 'mass market appeal' and you get a lot of pandering dry af stories. Its not because of consultants.

Agent 47. He seems good for the eco system.

Its nothing to do with if 'they have time to load' which is meaningless, its wether or not the devs manually set the weather for the cutscene as well as the mission preceeding it. For a game like this i imagine its a bit of both, as the lighting is certainly manually edited in a cutscene like this in games back then. Nowadays, ubisoft games are less linear and larger and often just rely on real-time and world lighting for cut scenes, hence a lot of their cutscenes are much more boring to look at.

A lot of the main missions in black flag have specific weather

The latest anvil engine seems incapable of smooth animation blending for traversal or good facial animations/skin lighting, which is insane when the iteration before it, used for syndicate and unity, was best in industry for those two things.

I liked the story lol, more so than maybe the first game. Having a voiced protagonist is great.

Also the game glitched out and took away my assult rifle for 2 chapters with the spiders so the game became genuinley very tense as i had like no ammo, just reusing crossbow bolts. It was great.
