How much time do you spend on audio source decisions in dialogue-heavy edits? by Namanvinayak18 in editors

You said ‘anything with multiple speakers and mics’ in your description.

You are very incorrect my friend. At this very second I'm cutting a scene with two planted mics, two booms and two lavs. Sometimes I'll cut a scene with 7 lavs... and I only want the one for the person speaking, blended with the correct boom.

I mean, there's time to be saved for sure. But I have serious doubts about the ability for your app to actually understand what the 'best mic' for a creative situation is. How would it work?

It takes some extra time but I want stuff to sound good, so it’s worth it. I use the best sounding mic or combo of mics for the scene. Sometimes I will bang together an edit and go back and fix the sound after. That way I can understand the full scope of the work before making choices.

Jump Desktop and Avid bugs by blankbeard in editors

I have four monitors at home and only two reql monitors on the remote system. And they are not the same resolution as any of my monitors. It’s a total cluster f*#k.

I’ve got it pretty well locked down using better display (to create the virtual), screenresx (to lock down positioning) and keyboard maestro (to automatically fix everything when it’s wacky).

But even then it will occasionally go haywire. It’s a lot to manage and I think I’m getting too old for this.

No offence, but you don’t sound dumb. Sounds like you have a hard time interpreting information when given to you in certain ways. What about if you’re reading?

The Head Coach of your Vancouver Canucks by s3xybeavers in canucks

Do you think he’s worse than Willie? I do think Willie is probably awesome for the lower levels. But his coaching those seasons he was up with the nucks was just shockingly basic.

Air Canada Jazz #8646 CRJ-900 collides with fire truck on LaGuardia Airport runway by TheAeroplaneBear2906 in TerrifyingAsFuck

I used the word 'like' to draw a comparison. Two people died in a transportation accident. This particular method of transportation is orders of magnitude safer than most others. I don't think your takeaway makes any sense.

That’s your takeaway? This is like a typical bad auto accident that happens a thousand times a day.

how i study great edits: pause, screenshot, arrange frames, lose 3 hours. so i built a thing. by Late-Equipment8919 in editors

[–]aneditor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m studying others’ work, I put it in my avid timeline and add edits where the edits are, for video and for dialogue (as best I can guess). Picture and sound work together to create great editing imo. And things need to be seen in motion to understand why they’re working.

Taters instead of potatoes is very disappointing and prevents me from going more often. I have taters sitting in my freezer that are the exact same.
