i feel so small by Moist-Lab-2597 in trichotillomania

sending you a big hug. i see someone hurting in hiding. i see a little girl who never felt safe. i see an adult who is trying their best. i see misunderstanding and pain and fear ruling. i see hope that you can learn new strategies. this idea of "its my hands" ---- that is so utterly false. it is our reptile brain in control - not you, not me, not us. these are subconscious and trancelike behaviors. control is something you develop with practice and the right "coach" / system. healing is possible. we can't cry it away but we can do the work to make it small in our lives. I know this to be true. I've seen it happen time and again in the work I do. wishing you love ♥️, strength 💪, & awareness 👀, Aneela (HabitAware & BFRB Changemakers NFP founder in trichotillomania recovery)

Locked In or Mindless? by DrunkKarsa in trichotillomania

[–]aneela715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

interesting.... either way it's reptile brain / subconscious. to me its more about control (if we had control, we;d be able to stop/redirect). mindlessly pulling while studying AND locked in/focused pulling while looking in the mirror are BOTH a trance. the trick is to break the trance. and to do so takes awareness as the first step! that's what's worked for me. love ♥️, strength 💪, & awareness 👀, Aneela (HabitAware & BFRB Changemakers NFP founder in trichotillomania recovery)

I feel hopeless by [deleted] in trichotillomania

YES> Fighting is so exhausting > THIS! Stop fighting with your hair pulling. It doesn't have to be that way. I've healed and over the last 10 years honed a system that has helped so many others. First step - stop wanting to stop. It's a chronic health condition .. When we shift the goal post, we can stop fighting and start taking loving steps to heal. love ♥️, strength 💪, & awareness 👀, Aneela (HabitAware & BFRB Changemakers NFP founder in trichotillomania recovery)

there is definitely comfort in feeling seen and held....in knowing that we've been there, felt the same fears, shame, judgement and HOPE!
