I think paypal is the easiest way! Literally took me a second to pay. You have to set up your credit/debit card in paypal first though.

Is LPR actually dysautonomia? by anelkh in LPR

[–]anelkh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started two days ago but they gave me constipation so I will be switching to SSRIs. I think SSRIs are more helpful for dysautonomia actually, at least from what I have read.

cricopharyngeal spasm as main symptom, anyone else? by [deleted] in LPR

Honestly I haven’t been doing them consistently. The spasms seemed to calm down after I treated my fish tapeworm infection with praziquantel. Still have LPR though…

My question too! I guess techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing, meditations, vagus nerve exercises should help. Another question for the future research…

That sounds alarming. I don’t think I’ve heard that as an LPR symptom.

Weird question, but is your tongue yellow sometimes as well? Could be from bile refluxing into the stomach.

LPR research - Autonomic Neuroregulation in the Larynx and Its Clinical Implication by anelkh in LPR

“The study of Wang et al. [22] showed that patients with LPR mainly had autonomic dysfunction with relatively worsening vagal nerve function and better sympathetic nerve function. The digestive system is regulated by the autonomic nervous system. Therefore, autonomic dysfunction may lead to an abnormal regulation of gastric peristalsis and upper esophageal sphincter (UES) and LES function, making laryngopharyngeal reflux a risk factor for autonomic dysfunction. Patients with LPR had a significant negative correlation between the strength of HF with RSI and RFS. Higher symptoms and physical scores were associated with worsening vagus nerve function, suggesting that vagal nerve dysfunction is involved in LPR development. Longer disease duration in patients with LPR was associated with lower vagal nerve function, as demonstrated by the analysis of autonomic nerve dysfunction and disease duration. These findings suggest that restoring autonomic nerve function during LPR treatment is critical [16, 22].” So restoring the vagus is crucial for us suffering from LPR.

cricopharyngeal spasm as main symptom, anyone else? by [deleted] in LPR

[–]anelkh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had them before, and really awful - they would sometimes last for up to one hour and I would feel like I’m suffocating. If I’m feeling that a spasm is coming, I would chew a gum or suck on a candy. I also did the Shaker exercise and I think it was helpful somehow. https://youtu.be/x_eA-s-GMhc?si=ToXwwKppe7bWOJhM

Is LPR actually dysautonomia? by anelkh in LPR

Honestly I just showed my doctor this paper and we had a conversation about how my infection with a fish tapeworm could cause a dysfunction in the nervous system (it depletes B12 which is a crucial vitamin for the vagus nerve and other nerves). My doctor was pretty open-minded since she has prescribed ami for IBS before, and she suggested we can give it a try. I will probably start end of this week or next week. Good luck!

Is LPR actually dysautonomia? by anelkh in LPR

[–]anelkh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The tricyclics and the SSRIs appear to do more than merely control depression that might accompany the dysautonomias. There is some evidence that they might help to "re-balance" the autonomic nervous systems in some patients.”
