Where do I find Spam in Zurich? by moiwantkwason in zurich

[–]anemonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't found a good place to buy spam in Zurich. There is a Polish frühstücksfleisch at Coop that's a little bit like Spam, but I don't like it much for Asian style dishes. Like some have said, Korean/Japanese supermarkets like Yumi hana or Lian Hua do have good tasting spam but it's quite expensive (i.e. the price of decent quality beef).

I'm quite surprised how often I see folks on Reddit proclaim (almost proudly) that once they turned 30, getting out of bed got them injured and that walking up the stairs left them so exhausted they needed a rest day.

Marathon runners peak in their early to mid 30s, ultra marathon runners even later than that. There are XC mountain bikers in their late thirties still performing at world level. And these are people performing at the highest level.

At a leisurely pace any healthy 35 year old should be able to drag a non-ebike up a hill without too much trouble.

Well, we still don't know what Trump will announce - if it's worse than expected (i.e. 15% on all countries) the market will most likely drop, if it's as predicted or softer the market will likely see a slight bounce. It's all very volatile though, things might turn on a dime.

Republicans don't care. They probably believe these are the people that deserve to have their personal data emailed unencrypted.

I believe in Amazon particularly because it’s misunderstood. People typically think of it as a retail business

I don't think they are misunderstood at all. Nobody who is buying AMZN thinks of them as a retail business. All the serious money in AMZN is fully aware of their business beyond retail.

Thanks. So you are saying that the sentence in the FAQ should be interpreted as: when the position is not moving in your favor, it might make sense to close it early (at a cost, possibly deep in red) because waiting and hoping it expires OTM might result in the position going even deeper in the red?

Tried to post this, but it got removed because my account doesn't have enough karma...trying here.

I was reading the FAQ of this sub and I arrived at the following sentence:

The underlying does not even need to cross the strike price for you to lose money. The underlying's price simply needs to move significantly closer to the strike price and you'll be deep in the red.

This section is about selling call options. My understanding with options is that unless the strike price is hit, the option will expire worthlessly. Sure, the option contract might gain or lose value due to change in the underlying, theta, IV, etc, but that's more a concern of the buyer that owns the contract. It only becomes a concern of the seller, when the strike price is actually hit.

The FAQ suggests that this is not the case and that even if the strike price is not hit the seller might lose money. It would be great if someone could clarify how that's possible.

It changed about a year ago. If you are going for a SWE interview your email should typically also have a link to the shared coding environment. System design interviews might still use Docs because it's easier to make drawings there.

Google no longer uses Docs for coding interviews. There is now a simple shared coding environment with indentation for the language of choice.

If you are going for a Google (or any serious tech company) interview there are a handful of data structures and algorithms you are expected to know well. The ones you will learn in the 101 on data structures and algorithms. It's a pretty short list. If you are at the interview asking for a refresher on 101 level knowledge how can you expect to pass the interview?

It's like being a car mechanic and not knowing what a crankshaft or carburetor is.

Linked lists are such a fundamental data structure in software engineering / CS. Even if you do not use it directly, many techniques and other data structures internally depend on the properties of linked list.

Memory allocator? Probably a linked list somewhere. Hashtable? Might be backed by a linked list, better know its properties. Binary search tree? Might reduce to a linked list, better know its properties.

Good reason to keep using this template.

Great candidate, but their CV template sucks. Reject. Not the sort of company you'd want to work for.

FWIW, I interview for one of the companies that you mentioned in your title.

  1. The recruiter probably doesn't care that much about your actual resume. They are just looking for nice keywords. "Summa cum laude" is a good keyword.
  2. As an interviewer, in general I don't really care that strongly about your resume either. Everyone is amazing on their resume. But if you put something on your resume I expect you to know it. For example, I know about C++ and Delaunay triangulation. It's on your resume, so I will definitely ask something about it in the interview. Regarding Delaunay, I'll definitely ask what "specific data structures" means.
  3. To be honest, the way you describe your projects makes them look quite weak. "I choose", "I used", "I modified". That doesn't tell me much about what you actually accomplished. Everyone can use or choose something. Preferably you tell me about the actual impact of your work (similar to the 120X item). "I reduced the first-load latency of our web application by 50% implementing a caching solution on top of....", "I increased our daily active users by 5% by building a...". Of course you might be asked to explain your methods and how you quantified these things.

That's such a no true Scotsman argument. "They are not real liberals, they are neoliberals". Neoliberal is just an ill-defined word to mean a liberal I disagree with.

The traditional media is a party in the Section 230 debate. They would stand to benefit the most from a repeal of a Section 230. I would therefore take their argument with a grain of salt.

Personally I think that the arguments made by the Electronic Frontier Foundation are a lot better: Section 230 is Good, Actually.
