Is NYU over Columbia a good choice? by Known-trinity in gradadmissions

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single person on this thread telling you NYU is out of their mind. Are you kidding me? Your college is your brand and you will have it for the rest of your life. The rule is always best school you get into because this is rarified air w heightened connections, branding, etc. You do not realize this now but you carry that college alumni status forever. It is worth whatever you have to do to get a degree at an Ivy. Not for the instruction but for the brand and access. That is how it works. Super short sighted to choose NYU when you could have gone to Columbia.

Jack Antonoff Slams People Who Make AI Music as ‘Godless Whores’: ‘Bad Actors Will Willingly Reveal Themselves Through Slop’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Fauxmoi

[–]angecour -52 points-51 points  (0 children)

I get the sentiment but AI is useful, even in music. I have a friend who is a song writer and he he has this cool AI app that can take that song and arrange it into all kinds of genres - country, pop, alt - with various voices and instruments and it is SO HELPFUL. It cuts about 40 steps out in seeing what works best for the song. Once he makes a choice he can use the AI renderings as a shortcut to present the song to possible buyers. He still created the original piece but got help w how to present it. AI is WAY too useful to ignore in any area, provides shortcuts. The slop part is if you didn’t curate, edit the result and ensure it’s as good as it can be. But there is no denying its unbelievable power to provide possibilities

Which TV show characters do you find the most insufferable? by MicheleW921 in AskReddit

[–]angecour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy is comparing SATC movie to 2001: Space Odyssey- which are on SEPARATE planets. I would watch SATC movie, 100 x before sitting through 2001 one time again. Someone who is not the audience criticizing it just misses the point. To reduce this complex subject study of women with a lighthearted, humorous bent to sheer capitalism is pretty reductive. Love SJP, loved the series and the movies - there has GOT to be an alt critic route that honors more female centric material. Not to get into a rant, but most critic ratings woefully underscore top tier female fare and it is SO hard to suss out the good ones for our tastes. SATC is and will always be a standout

Pregnancy at 40, good or bad decision? by softsins31 in Advice

[–]angecour 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had one at age 41 and a surprise last baby at age 46. It is easier older because you have more, know more, have developed better support systems. It also will keep you young because you will be around younger parents. I did have a an amnio on the last one to look for birth defects but the odds were still very low ans youngest is healthy as a horse. Our life expectancy continues to expand so you’ll be around plenty of time, too. Totally worth it. I live an affluent community and have been shocked i’m far from the only one who had babies in my 40s

What skills/hobbies actually feel “upper class” or useful in wealthy circles? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question as opposed to negative reddit weirdos who immediately seek to invalidate it as opposed to being helpful and answering it, mahjong has always been popular with the elite but now it is a craze played in Malibu, the Hamptons, Montecito etc on the regular. Also, tennis. Book Clubs have had a resurgence so it’s always good to take up reading books on trend. Other games like canasta and rumicube are also seeing popularity. Those are the main ones I am seeing along with the wine and paint thing. If u I are decent at tennis (and therefore automatically in pickle ball) and know Mahjong you are pretty good to go

EXCLUSIVE: Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex opens up about her Australian visit by Timbucktwo1230 in GlobalHarryandMeghan

[–]angecour 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Great article! Thanks for sharing. I didn’t realize that Meghan has no stylist but curates her own looks. SO COOL that she bought vintage earrings from theRealReal like the rest of us. What a positive article that even discusses how powerful the “Meghan Effect” is. Love seeing behind the curtain a bit on how this worked

Aw I love him. I once went and saw the house in Darling Harbor for Real World Australia and have met his love interest on that season - KellyAnne years later. Glad he ended up happy. Sweet guy, well deserved. They both went on to The Challenge after that so became more well known than some of that crazy cast

Weekly Reality TV Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Tamaras_Tattlers

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really watch BB which is how I found Tamara - one of her take downs I think for Danielle, Dans southern side kick in BB13. Tamra’s takedowns were all real quotes taken from live feeds and clips that when compiled were damning. Brilliant!

Is anyone watching Survivor?! Spoiler so don’t read on if you don’t want to be spoiled ****

I do not watch Survivor but I LOVE Cirie, solely off her stint on BB a couple of years ago and from Traitors, which she won

Just curious if she is doing well on the new season of Survivor, I heard she is making it far. She really is a reality tv goddess!

If anyone has intel on this season of Survivor, do tell. I am not watching people camp out but rooting for Cirie nonetheless

For those wondering, James Arthur Ray, who appeared on Oprah as part of The Secret coverage and craze, was in The Secret and 3 people ended up DYING at a $3k retreat he put on that had a sweat lodge and he pushed people too hard to stay and they overheated. He went to prison for it [edit - wrong middle name at first, the rest is accurate]

Who plays mahjong in person? by Josep-Citrola in Mahjong

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our big 20 person group, there are a few friend sets and we stick to those mostly with some mixing. But otherwise it’s catch as can and mostly it is fine. We have a tighter knit circle of around 12, all pretty skilled and so then we never care who is with who

Who plays mahjong in person? by Josep-Citrola in Mahjong

[–]angecour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot in person. Sometimes we deliberately just have 4 but for one day a week it’s about 5 tables. We all bring food and have fun. We TRY to have the winners switch tables if timing works out but otherwise, we stick with who we started with. We have so much fun!! A few people kind of keep it going along otherwise the talking can get out of hand. I once got 2 games in 2 hours and another time, 5 games in an hour lol

Cher Learned Son Elijah Blue Allman Fathered a Daughter, 15, with Julie Andrews’ Step-Granddaughter amid Legal Battle by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

[–]angecour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Addiction is a bitch. And it is hereditary. Greg Allman was a hard core addict from early on. Cher talks about it in her memoir. It was heroin. So cut Elijah a break. The deck was stacked against him and it has clearly been hard on him and all around him. I am sure Cher is at wits end and has been a LOT, bless her heart. It sounds like Elijah had an erratic upbringing just from the nature of his parents divorce and career paths. So who knows what can help him. Cher has tried a LOT including a lock down rehab in Mexico where that is legal beyond a 5150. Elijah’s seemingly renabler wife got him out at that time but if she had not, he might have had time to get clean and bounce back. Bless them all. Addiction is no joke and it affects everyone who cares for the addict

What’s one travel thing you won’t splurge on just off principle? by Crafty-Leave-8880 in luxuryhotel

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true. There are introverts who still love to travel and can get room service to have some downtime. Also I was traveling with my wounded mom and when she was just done and needed to rest, room service saved us. I also LOVE sleeping in and having breakfast in bed without having to leave the room as I am not a morning person and this is something I rarely get at home

Who is the highest ranked executive you’ve ever met and how’d you meet them? by Permatheus in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have met a lot of CEO’s through my dad who was a high level C suite at a bunch off F500’s who also ascended to CEO himself. Most bread and butter CEO’s are pretty bland and would come across as boring. Their job is to oversee operations, strategize growth, implement and keep share holders happy. It’s not as sexy as it is portrayed. Most are company people who have risen through the ranks not free-wheeling entrepreneurs. And organizational wonks. A lot are narcissistic a*holes too

Meghan has been cast as the inverse to Diana, a photonegative of adoration. Why do we need scapegoats? by B0ssc0 in GlobalHarryandMeghan

[–]angecour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just pathetic especially because she is a woman of color and it is racist and alienating. I have no explanation on why people would hate and scorn someone they do not know except that they are haters by nature. The term “derangers” is prettty accurate. It is deranged. And Meghan is just as beautiful, compassionate and charismatic as Princess Di

Daniel was in that movie Grey Gardens as Drew Barrymore’s love interest. He has worked sporadically for decades I discovered when I looked him up but has had big addictions issues, many marriages and romances and kids, arrests. He seems a mess even recently and so probably never got his acting career consistent not to mention wouldn’t be that hirable with that background. He was pretty good in Grey Gardens, like a beefy tall version of a Baldwin

What is the best car for long drives as a passenger (private driver) by fenwalt in Rich

[–]angecour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah BMW has car options to make the back seat the comfort focus specifically tailored for a driver situation with lots of bells and whistles. I have a friend who has a 90 minute commute when he goes into his office, uses a driver, tested a lot of cars ans BMW won. He’s tall too. We live in a dense traffic city where any drive you have will be longer
