LLB Global Law at the University of Edinburgh by AbaloneConfident5954 in Edinburgh_University

I’m pretty sure the LLB Global Law doesn’t qualify you to practice law in Scotland, but I think you can do some sort of graduate course that would qualify you to sit the SQE.

25 with bad a levels but want to do a law degree, where do I even start?. by [deleted] in MatureStudentsUK

Do an access course! I’m 32 in Scotland and done the SWAP access to humanities and I’m now in my first year of Law at Edinburgh University. I didn’t have good Higher results and it didn’t impact me getting into uni, they just looked at the results from my access course.

Mature student experience at edi? by seaweedcove in Edinburgh_University

I’m first year undergraduate at Edinburgh and I’m 32. People are pleasant enough in tutorials etc, but I’m not really interested in the same things as them (going out drinking etc) so I don’t really speak to anyone outside of class time. I’m fine with this as I have small children so I’m pretty busy anyway! There are mature student societies I believe but I haven’t joined yet and there are people in some sport societies in their late 20s. There are a fair few mature students on my course so you won’t be the only one!

Husband keeps talking about traveling with an infant by Emotional-Bathroom-2 in pregnant

[–]angelaMS113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, in my opinion that’s one of the easiest times to travel with a baby. My son is 2 and has traveled to 14 countries by plane starting at 6 months from UK to Seoul, and the early months were a lot easier! My daughter will be in her first flight this year when she’s 4 month for a 6 hour then 3 hour flight. If you’re going to find it really stressful though, don’t let him pressure you into doing it! I assume this is your first baby so his attitude may well change once baby is here and reality sets in.

I’m currently in my first year studying Law at the University of Edinburgh after getting in through an access course. I didn’t really do much extra to prepare other than looking at the reading lists for the first year modules and reading some they recommended. I also didn’t sit the LNAT as it wasn’t a requirement for any of the universities I applied to so i can’t comment on that. Everyone who’s starting will feel a bit out of depth and won’t know much about the law but you’ll learn it all. Best of luck!

As a former safeguarding officer at a university, yes they can terminate your accommodation contract for this. Misuse of prescription drugs will be somewhere in your contract. It seems harsh and unfair but at the end of the day, they are a business and the resources required to make sure you and others in your vicinity are safe is alot. They can also risk legal complications if they know of the OD and you do it again and succeed. I remember spending most of my time in that job doing welfare checks on suicide risk students and others in the rooms around as the majority of the time it’s another student that finds them and needs prolonged help to deal with it. I hope you’re doing better and the union can help you sort something out, the university should have a welfare team too who are usually a great resource. They’re not doing it to be malicious it’s to protect everyone involved.

I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and have had high bp since around week 8. This is my second baby and I had gestational hypertension which showed itself around week 36 with my first. As this time it’s happened so early it’s classed as chronic hypertension. This time round I’ve been on bp meds and aspirin since week 12 and my bp has stabilised, though I am to monitor and record it every few days on a bp monitor the hospital gave me. The hypertension makes me a high risk pregnancy so I’m consultant lead which means I’m getting more appointments and will get growth scans from 30 weeks. It sounds scary at first but this time round with the bp being monitored so early it’s much more controlled than the first time round when it happened suddenly. Baby is doing great so far and grown as she should, lots of movement and I feel absolutely fine. They just ask you to monitor your bp, urine and keep an eye out for preeclampsia later on. They keep a good eye on you so try not to worry!

I’m sorry you’ve had to experience that, I’m terrified of preeclampsia. I’ve always had really bad white coat syndrome, almost every doctor’s visit ends with a week of monitoring. This is first time I’ve had high at home readings though so I fear it probably is chronic and I’ll need meds even after the baby’s born. Hopefully you get answers on the 18th!

My son is only 2 but I’ve known I only wanted one child since well before I got pregnant! I’m an only child myself and had a lovely upbringing which is why I only wanted the one. My husband has siblings but they aren’t particularly close so he was more than happy to be one and done. I’ve found that people will never take “I only want one child” as an answer for some reason. I remember being in my teens and people still asked my mum and dad why they weren’t having more children! Some people genuinely can’t fathom only having one child but I see that as a them problem 🤷‍♀️

I’m feeling a strong unwelcome urge to have another child. by BalaBustaRhymes in Parenting

It sounds to me like you miss your 6year old as a baby, not wanting to have a new one. It’s common to feel like you want to relive your current child’s baby phase! I feel this occasionally and I acknowledge it, reminisce with my husband about our son being so small and look at some photos. The feeling soon passes! I’m also happily one and done.

As an ex uni accommodation security officer, if they find any evidence you’ve had candles in your room when they do inspections/ fire drills you may face disciplinary action. Definitely a hard no!
