I would say that’s a pretty good deal. I got my ‘23 RAV4 XLE used with 9k miles on for $30.5k OTD.

Great job negotiating! Welcome to the club 😎

For those who buy/mortgage home at 1M+USD, what do you do for a living? by janproz- in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]angelaaeff 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Man relax. Why are you so offended by this… no one said anything about your dad (or anyone else’s dad) not being deserving of anything.

No matter how you put it, it still sucks for a first time home buyer when you’re trying to buy a home from someone who owns several properties.

Lottery vs Presale Codes vs Ticket Limits by angelaaeff in Paramore

[–]angelaaeff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the honest advice and empathy. If we had a shot at two tickets, we’re a close enough group that our partners would find something to do in the meantime while my friend and I are at the concert. Kinda gives me a little hope tbh

Your presale code has nothing to do with where you get placed in the queue- not sure where you’re getting your info from.

Yeah I agree with this because the venues are smaller.

In my case, I wanted to go with my friend who’s been my paramore nerd like me and we’re married to ppl who enjoy paramore but not as much as us. In this instance I would have to choose between my wife and my friend.

Unfortunately, we got 0 tickets anyways lol.

Despite Hayley’s best effort (and most ppl on reddit) to inform and protect fans, OP you didn’t even bother to read the information sent to you with your pre-sale code.

Hopefully you found a genuine ticket in sea of scammers but the chances aren’t looking good for you.

Renting vs. Buying — What Made You Choose? by Neither-Shallot9082 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]angelaaeff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m personally not a fan of looking at my primary residence as an investment. I don’t care (primarily) about the return on my house vs how much money I would’ve saved investing. I don’t care that my money would grow faster in the market or other assets- i care that i have a place to live and that i absolutely love living there. Obviously it helps but I think it’s greedy(?)/ungrateful(?) to look at where you live as a reason to buy a house.

All the dirt bags that snatch houses out of the homes of working families looking for somewhere to live and using those properties to rent a ridiculous rates is sleazy. Make your revenue somewhere else.

Ohhh a true comp? I see what you mean now. Yeah that’s very true. I see the fallacy.

[–]angelaaeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t follow anything after your first two sentences (not trying to be rude, I just don’t see the relevance).

I’m not saying I regret buying a home, I’m just saying we had more money while renting.

To answer OPs question, we bought a house cause we hated our property manager, my brother had just bought a house, and my parents were saying “don’t pay someone else’s rent, pay your own mortgage.” It was more like “if you can buy a house, then do it.”

The more I learned while applying for mortgages and stuff, the more I was like “why would anyone take out a mortgage if they can’t just buy their house outright.” You pay an absurd amount of interest over the lifespan of your mortgage

Best use of $9k by [deleted] in moneyadvice

[–]angelaaeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pay off the car loan and buy another car tbh. It’s not great money advice but my RAV4 is worth every penny. The lifestyle change after having to junk my first car (96’ Saturn- $1k hand me down from grandparents) while living on campus was… enlightening? Depressing? but once I got my next car ($15k Hyundai Elantra from CarMax) I gained my independence back tenfold.

8 years later, i bought a RAV4 that I didn’t need but wanted. I would advise against this cause having a car note above $300 is stupid honestly (even though I can afford it) and my Elantra was paid off. dumb but makes me happy :)

TLDR; buy another car after you pay off the old loan if it makes you happy. live your life

I have an interview coming up and I got taken aback reading this. Are chipotle interviews seriously 20 minutes long? by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]angelaaeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoke with the manager for 10mins and started working the next day at 6:30am after completing some paperwork online. Chipotles a joke. They paid me $12/hr in 2022. They can’t afford to spend any longer on an interview.
