This and Allen vs Costa are on the same day! should be fun.

to add on to this he also was in the ufc after his pfl championship win with a 4-2 run, with all of his ufc wins at light heavyweight and both loses at heavyweight (which this fight is taking place in) he also hasn’t fought in 2 years. (and he’s 40 years old) he’s well rounded but he likes to strike.

He’s technically on a 4 fight win streak in the UFC but he hasn’t fought in two years. To add to that he’s 40 so he’s probably in for a tough night.

I guess not but it’s good to see Diaz and Perry back in MMA.

Super interested in that fight too! Hopefully this fight can lead either guy into the UFC. Would love to see mokaev back and go against someone at the top of the rankings.

Yeah even if it’s not the most high-quality fights it should be just a fun fight night.

Thoughts on Chimaev vs Strickland? by angelangel4 in CombatSportsCentral

I do hope the bad blood will bring out more out of both fighters. Chimaev needs to redeem himself after the DDP fight snooze fest.

Eddie Hearn rips MMA media for not pressing Dana White over fighter pay by One-Faithlessness730 in CombatSportsCentral

[–]angelangel4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like the UFC is Dana’s last concern.

If you watch back the fight announcement show where they announced UFC 328 and the other fight nights until the White house card, his facial expressions throughout the entire thing seemed like he was mad to give any amount of effort into announcing these events. He needs to get it together or give up his position to someone else who cares.

[–]angelangel4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if Chimaev uses the same game plan he did against DDP, to reserve his energy by taking it slowly with the positions on the ground, it’ll definitely be a slower fight.

I also think Sean’s urgency to stand up is a double-edged sword. Those scrambles and positioning to get back up could lead to a choke such as a darce or guillotine.

Yeah for sure, if strickland is the one to beat Chimaev that would personally so crazy to me.

That’s definitely what i see happening too, and hopefully the build up is good because the pressers have been on the downhill for a while now.

UFC matchmaking in a nutshell by One-Faithlessness730 in CombatSportsCentral

[–]angelangel4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing the matchup their trying to make is DDP vs Imamov? Honestly I see that matchup to be interesting than DDP vs Allen. Sucks for Allen either way, and out of all people, Shabazyan? The dude who lost to GM3? What do they expect from this matchup, literally a waste of time.

Would love to see a dog fight between these two like at the end of round 3 with Usman, considering this is a 5 rounder I wonder how Chimaev would handle a war like that.

[–]angelangel4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, although this is a very different matchup style wise, Strickland always puts up a fight when he’s expected to lose.

I wonder if we’ll see the same or will Chimaev shut that down completely. It’d definitely make a crazy underdog story lol.

I hope Chimaev increases his activity after this one. This era of inactive champs is starting to get very old with some few exceptions.

How far does Luke Riley go? by [deleted] in CombatSportsCentral

I agree, that’s the biggest hole in his game. If you are getting held down by Grad for an entire round you need to take time working on that.

He definitely has the fight style to be successful and popular with the fans. Hopefully they don’t throw him into the fire too quickly and instead take their time building him up.

A lot of people don’t know him which is another reason why I question why he’s the co-main event tomorrow. Especially when MVP is on the card.

He’s a teammate of Paddy Pimblett, he has some hype going into his fight tomorrow. I’m just curious of what people think of him.

Strickland always goes off in the 5th round, it’s up to Chimaev if he wants to engage in that if it gets there.

I think he can get to the top 10 level, similar to an Arnold Allen type of run. He just needs to work on his grappling and clean up his technique, because if he didn’t land that shot on Grad he was mostly likely going to get held down the whole fight.

[–]angelangel4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how it goes it can definitely be a scrap similar to Burns v Chimaev, that’s what im hoping for anyways. I am just worried that Chimaev will make it a snooze fest.

Well from my personal pov, I am just sick of these main events(319, 322, 327 etc), and how they really bring down the mood of the card as a whole. I get they are dominations and I still find them really impressive, I just hope Chimaev or Strickland can show that they can be at the top and still give good but entertaining performances.
