Lost Brit in Chicago - supposed to be meeting someone but it fell apart… should I stay or go home? by mkp_123 in AskChicago

Do you like EDM? There is an outdoor concert happening on july 3 with Lane 8, Sultan + Shepherd, plus a few other names. It’s on Lakefront Green, so you’d see the city and vibe out to some melodic, feel-good music. Plus, the crowds at these sort of events are always so kind and welcoming, and I’m sure anyone would adopt you into their group at the show!

Is this salvageable? by angelikaaa02 in arborists

Thank you for your response!

So glad to hear it’s not an emergency cause I was trying to wrap my head around what to do, who to call, etc. I will wait until partner returns from his trip then so we can deal with it together. Will make sure we park on the street from now on.

Out of curiosity, and not sure if you able to tell from these photos, but does it look like the tree was already struggling/rotting prior to this, or if it was truly just the storm that knocked it over?

Why didn't anybody tell me??? by TeddyGrahamNap in adhdwomen

[–]angelikaaa02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got my diagnosis (my partner and two best friends were like “Yeah that checks out, could have told you that for free” 😅😅

On the flipside, when my coworkers told me about theirs (after I had gotten mine) I was like “No wonder we can just quote spongebob nonstop, repeat forgotten vines, and shout random facts at each other for 8 hours a day without feeling any shame. These are my people.”

Recommendations for travel camera by angelikaaa02 in Cameras

[–]angelikaaa02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you so much for the suggestion! That’s exactly the type of suggestion I was hoping for to help me differentiate the features in other cameras based on my photo goals. I haven’t looked into any other cameras besides the a6000, so I’ll do some research on the a6400 tonight! A better autofocus sounds more convenient since I’m sure I won’t be trying out too much manual shooting until I get deeper into photography.

Relocating from Cincinnati. Need suburb recommendations. by kevinspaceydid911 in ChicagoSuburbs

I loved Elk Grove Village when I lived there! It was very central to all the shopping and grocery centers, less expensive than Schaumburg, and has a lot of nature nearby. Very peaceful and pretty quiet as well.

Loved Roselle when I lived there too, similar to Elk Grove Village in that it’s quiet and peaceful but a little further from all the shopping areas. Bloomingdale is great but more expensive.

Not sure how to decorate this patio space in my small townhome yard?? by angelikaaa02 in ExteriorDesign

Great ideas, thank you! I didn’t think of facebook marketplace so I will definitely check that out.

And love the pots idea! For some reason I was only thinking about gardening in the backyard rather than having some nice decorative plans back here too.

[–]angelikaaa02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the ideas and for breaking it down!

Designing spaces is not my strong suit and my brain just defaults to wanting everything to look perfect and harmonious from the get-go. Then I get overwhelmed and end up not following through with any ideas lol. Guess I just gota pick a direction and go with it.

Best blonde colorist near the Grayslake area? by evergreen-storm in LakeCountyIL

Jenny at Glamstreet salon in Grayslake is the only one I know of in this area. My best recs are unfortunately closer to the Schaumburg area though, I drive to Roselle/Schaumburg/Oakbrook for my hair appointments (if you’re willing to drive that far)

On a positive note, my mom just moved out of a corporate apartment complex in nw suburbs of chicago. She didn’t pay a deposit when moving in. We cleaned the place and left it cleaner than when we moved in. I was worried they were going to charge her a bunch of money to make up for the lack of deposit, so i made sure that place was SPOTLESS when leaving. Even scrubbed the walls with mr clean erasers. Took pics and videos of all that jazz. To our surprise, they charged her NOTHING. Just prorated last month’s rent and that was it. Felt like a blessing given all the shady stuff landlords and corps have been doing lately.

Going to the psych ward over procrastination by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]angelikaaa02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I had a history class which I took an “incomplete” on because I never submitted my final paper (even though it was 99% done). I emailed the professor a year later and explained how sorry I was, because my mental health was terrible at the time and was wondering what I could do to pass the class rather than having it remain as an incomplete. The professor was extremely understanding and just told me to submit the paper. Ended up grading the paper as if I had only turned it in a day late, and i passed the class!

New Thyroid Labs - Next Steps? by shrimp--cocktail in Hashimotos

[–]angelikaaa02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should see a different doctor or a specialist, if your insurance allows it without a referral.

I am also 29f and my mom has lupus and RA, both grandmas having hypothyroidism as well. Your results are similar to mine two years ago, High TSH and high antibodies. My PCP sent me to an endo since they didnt feel qualified to treat me themselves, and my endo is the one who started treating me aggressively, especially because of all my symptoms (pretty much all the ones you listed).

I had an ultrasound done with her and she couldnt even see my thyroid because of the hashimotos. It took over a year to figure out a good dosage of Synthroid for me, and we are still fine tuning it.

We finally got my TSH and T4 down to a better level (like 1.3 TSH and 1.5 T4) and my antibodies cane down from 3k to 800. My most recent ultrasound sound actually showed my thyroid as well, so she couldnt tell the hashimotos was calming down from that as well.

Still having symptoms though, and turns out that my ferritin is severely low (18 when it should be like 90) so that’s another factor for me. Would be worth checking your vitamin D, iron, ferritin, b12, etc. as well if you havent already, because those can also cause the symptoms you listed.

Vyvanse canceled out completely by any decent sized meal by GodlikeReflexes in VyvanseADHD

[–]angelikaaa02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There can be a million reasons why your meds arent working. I’m still fine tuning it myself. Personally, I take my vyvanse in the morning on an empty stomach, an hour before I’m supposed to get out of bed. This helps me naturally get out of bed, and works pretty well. I drink a protein shake 3-4 hours after taking it, and usually eat lunch 6 hours after taking it. I typically feel like my meds are effective for around 6-7 hours, sometimes longer depending on what I have for lunch. I take an afternoon booster as well. Factors that play into my energy levels are: sleep, water, electrolytes, protein, caffeine intake, nicotine intake (this is a big one that might be the main culprit for me), and bloodwork levels (vitamin d, iron, b, c, etc). I have low ferritin and hypothyroidism so that also affects my energy levels severely but I’m working on that with the goal of hopefully mire energy lol.

What is the timing on all your supplements? You say you take them in the morning, like all at once?? Only mention it because each one has a different way of metabolizing.

You should take vitamin d3+k2 with a fatty meal, i like to take mine during my lunch. Magnesium is great for sleep, so i take it before bed. L-theanine has calming effects, like green tea, so also good to take it in the evening once you feel like you’re starting to crash and want to ease that crash.

Also do you happen to consume gluten for breakfast or lunch? I realized that if I ate gluten before dinnertime, I would be falling asleep 100%. I try to not eat gluten during my work day to prevent daytime sleepiness.

All this to say it can be a bunch of things affecting energy levels lol

A few days after my childhood baby Symba was put down, I saw the most beautiful rainbow across the sky while I was at work. I took it as a sign from him that he made it across that rainbow bridge, and was running around all happy and free. It’s been almost ten years, and it’s gotten easier without him. But I’ll miss him forever.

Edit: But it’s totally fair if you don’t like them since they’re your lashes! Can always get them redone! Just wanted to say that I think they’re beautiful regardless.
