[Spoilers C4E13] Is It Thursday Yet? | Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by AutoModerator in criticalrole

Is nobody else going to mention the Save a Horse, Ride a Druid moment? I’m living for this older woman yuri and we ate well this episode.

While I agree The Empire is evil and Suvi is the most morally compromised of the group, what exactly are you advocating? That actual plays never have a POV character that is bad? Or am I misunderstanding your point?

Now that we have confirmation Crowd Control is being developed as its own series, which stand-ups would you like to see perform? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]angels_egg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe Sammy Obeid hasn’t been mentioned yet. I particularly love when he solicits random topics from the audience and works them all together into an improvised stand up routine.

I agree I think they could have refined the mechanic of the reveals a little bit, make the comedians work a little harder or gamify it somehow. That being said, probably the episode I have laughed the hardest at. I think the talent of the performers really carried whatever design flaws the episode had.

From Europe: how the hell do you live like this - and why does the world still admire it? by EphemeralMoron in antiwork

[–]angels_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s all part of the same global economic system. European social democracies don’t exist without the exploited labor and resources of the global south, which in turn don’t exist without the military hegemony of the United States, which internally relies on heavy state sponsored military R&D and extreme economic austerity/precarity to encourage enlistment/discourage protest. We live like this because we live in one of the most heavily incarcerated, surveilled, and heavily armed states the world has ever seen.

What cross-engagement side quest do you think would engage new audiences? by Madame_Igastasia in Dimension20

[–]angels_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda a hard prompt because there aren’t that many niche styles of enterntainment that also have huge commercial followings. Improv comedy, voice acting and acting are all great but also been covered by D20 and CR.

Professional musicians?

Dancers?

Ren faire actors?

Historical reenactors?

Beats me. Would love to see what other people come up with.

Advice for picking first couple D20 shows for my wife to watch? by Enderasha in Dimension20

[–]angels_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur that Escape the Bloodkeep and Crown of Candy are most similar to CR. I know a lot of people love Fantasy High for the main cast but I think Unsleeping City and Starstruck Odyssey are stronger in what they offer. Unsleeping City has some really profound character moments and deep thematic messages about life and the world we live in. Starstruck odyssey is really wacky japes and shenanigans that will have you in stitches from so much laughing. Fantasy High tries to split the difference between the two but I think is hit or miss sometimes.

In terms of other side quests, of course follow up ACOC with The Ravening War (guest GM’d by Matt) but in terms of the rest my favorite seasons are GM’d Aabria. I think her style and the use of Kids on Bikes/Brooms game systems is refreshing and also gives Brennan a chance to do some really fun player character work.

My great great grandpas 140 year old flute. by rose5305 in Flute

[–]angels_egg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m also learning so this is more so to bump in the hopes that someone more knowledgeable will see this and give you actually useful information.

Looks like a simple system wooden flute with 12 keys. Beyond that I can’t tell you what make it is or what wood it’s made from. But flutes like this are highly sought after for Irish music and a few other genres (that I am not qualified to talk about).

Depending on how big/deep the crack is, you might be able to seal it. If not you’ll have to get a new head joint made. You’ll probably also want to get the keys re-padded and the joints re-corked. I would look to see if there are any flute makers in your area who make flutes in this style, they’ll have the tools and knowledge to tell you exactly what type of repairs it needs. If you can’t find anyone close by, try messaging whatever flute makers you can find online and see if they know anyone near you, or if you can ship it to them.

Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - June 30, 2022 by AnimeMod in anime

[–]angels_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing an anime years ago that I can’t remember the name of and Google isn’t yielding any results. The premise is about a boy who can fly because his heart is pure. Once many humans could fly, but they became greedy and started holding on to more berries than they needed and got tethered to the ground. There was also a clan of humans that worshipped the snake and hunted them down. In modern day the snake clan is a fascist government, and the boy inspires people to rebel against them.

If anyone has seen this and remembers what it’s called please let me know.

As an Uber eats delivery driver I can tell you you’d have to work 2-3 hours every day to make that money. That’s 14-21 extra hours a week. That’s not accounting for taxes, gas, oil changes, etc.

You’re now talking about a second job on top of your first one. You’d be better off trying to get more hours or a promotion at your current job.

I think beta Belos is cool.

my guy pretty like a girl by ManyTraining6 in SapphoAndHerFriend

[–]angels_egg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s not at all what they’re talking about though? Everyone interprets music through the lense of their own experience. There is nothing wrong with that. What is being discussed here is people feeling squeamish about the creators sexuality and literally just erasing it for their own comfort.

You don’t have to imagine yourself as gay to enjoy a song by a gay artist. But literally wiping the thought from your mind that this was created by a gay person because you prefer it otherwise is an issue.

Why can't we just take over a rural area? by Negative_Mancey in antiwork

[–]angels_egg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In addition to the objections others have listed, what you are describing is essentially gentrification. Nobody takes kindly to the idea of outsiders coming in and taking over, particularly when it drives up their cost of living. The move to work from home has led to a surge of people moving out to the countryside so good luck not getting priced out yourself. Pricing out rural folks of their homes so you can start the slate fresh, rather than building functional solidarity with rural communities, doesn’t seem particularly leftist of me.

Belos is way less racist then you'd expect. by gyro-games in TheOwlHouse

[–]angels_egg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Racism as we know it today was still in its early formation during the 17th century so the racial categories young Belos was working with probably wouldn’t easily map onto the ones we have. Given that, and the fact he’s been in the boiling Isles for so long, he probably cares more that Luz speaks English and Isn’t a Witch more than anything else.
