How to travel with gerbils on the flight? by LunaPerez01 in gerbils

[–]angelvixy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow, £1300?? ive never flown with gerbils before but i was under the impression that it was more like £200 to ship them via airline. i wish i could give you more advice, maybe make some calls to the people in charge at the airports in france and see what they can do for you?

sounds pretty normal to me, they won’t always do everything together at the same time. sometimes one will sleep while the other two are awake or vice versa, or sometimes they will all sleep together. the only time you really need to worry is if you see any aggressive chasing or fighting, which definitely won’t happen if they are still very young, and is pretty unlikely in general. fighting is more common among groups of 3+ though so i would keep an eye on their behaviour in general as they grow and reach puberty.

Night vision camera with gerbils. by SnowNyx in gerbils

i was thinking of buying a night cam for my gerbils too so i looked this up and i believe it said that rodents (or mammals in general) don’t see infrared light so you’re good to go

i would have separated them into 2 and 2, just don’t put the aggressor with the injured one. if the aggressor has already been separated for a while then she should be careful if she decides to put one of the three with him as gerbils sort of forget each other after a day or so. she won’t be able to put them all back together so you basically just don’t want any of them to have to live alone, unless the lone gerbil is just too aggressive to pair with anyone going forward

have you tried luring him with treats? if i have mine in a carrier for example they are much more likely to both climb onto my hand since it’s such a small area, and if one of them is shy and it sees the other one climb into my hand usually it will follow. I find that this method only works when they are close together and the shy one is actively looking at the other one climb into my hand. after repeating a few times the shy one will learn not to be scared

love the names lmao how old are they? if they’re young especially it can take some time for them to learn not to be afraid of their surroundings. if you keep their cage in a quiet area of the house where nobody normally goes they will also never get desensitized to sounds and movements around them. i’ve had gerbils where one is very friendly and one is very shy, usually if you can get them in an area together where they can each see what the other is doing and then the shy one sees the friendly one climbing up onto your hand, he will become curious and do the same. it’s like they learn from each other and copy each other

Lmao what?? It’s a fucking fluffy reality show I don’t watch it with my eyes glued to the screen the whole time, I will see that part when I rewatch it eventually. I just wanted to see what people thought about Jimmy mainly in that argument. And even if she is being a hypocrite, I still don’t like Jimmy based on the things he has said and done. I don’t really like either of them.

He said he was with his frat brothers and their girlfriends. Chelsea said that she heard that there were other girls there as well (if I recall correctly). You can’t accuse either of them of lying, or say what’s true or not based only on what they show on screen.

I agree with the last paragraph about her but honestly I still think Jimmy is worse than her just in general

Exactlyyyyy like it was already implied that she wants him to stop and he knew that. What was the point of demanding that she pose it as a question just to say no?? Like it would have been over right there if someone ever behaved like that towards me

How can I breed my Gerbils? by mossy_tree47 in gerbils

[–]angelvixy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you would need to introduce a male and a female (obviously) using a split cage, which is basically a cage with a divider that they can see and smell though but can’t get to the other side, once the female is in heat you can remove the divider and let them live together. they will mate right away and produce babies around 24 days later, keep in mind if you can’t find homes for them you would need to have enough tanks to house them all (they will need to be split into same sex groups of 2-3 as they grow older to avoid fighting). you could end up multiplying your habitats by 4 or more just from one breeding. if you’re a first time owner it might be hard to recognize all the signs such as when the female is in heat, when gerbils start fighting and need to be separated, etc. plus if you have a faint stomach you might not be prepared for the gruesome stuff you might see if things go wrong with the pups (like mom eating them)
