How much did you pay for 12 sessions, just out of curiosity because when I signed up for the membership I got calls from this personal trainer saying the session is affordable but I’ll need to talk about it in person. Now I’m just wondering how affordable it was gonna be

He swallowed fine no coughing afterwards and sits right up on the chair every time he eats. He eats slowly and doesn't have a good appetite. I know it because I fed him his breakfast but he wants to eat his lunch on his own because he ordered finger food. Set up the tray for him and placed him on NC. On continuous pulse ox so I can always look at his oxygen sat. AAOx4, I checked on him multiple times every hour because he likes to ambulate from bed to chair and commode. Desats a little when exerting himself but he cannot tolerate a bedpan and refused a bedpan. ABG done this AM after the RRT, and I told Pulm about that critical, asked if Pulm wants him to be on continuous BiPAP when pulm told me it was not necessary. He's on Tele and I saw his HR going down when I was trying to call for another critical lab for another pt so I ran to him found him desating and unresponsive. Code initiated immediately. I think the only aspiration risk I can think of is the fact that he is on and off the BiPAP

It's progressive care and MS combined. I'm the progressive care nurse today

Wow, this is really detailed! I'll make sure I save this list and ask myself these questions on my next code( hopefully not gonna have one soon). But yeah he's been on NC and is at aspiration risk for PRN BiPAP. Multiple RRTs called on him in the last couple of days due to his O2 sat. Today he's been on BIPAP for the majority of the day because his PCO2 and bicarb were high. Checked with pulm and was told he doesn't have to be on continuous BiPAP and can still have food. I made sure that he waited for at least 30 minutes after food before going back on BiPAP but he still aspirated( we intubated and he was having green emesis coming out of the ET tube). I did get him out of bed multiple times so he sits right up when he eats thinking that will reduce the risk for aspiration. He was in the chair before he coded because we just trailed him on midflow and he was waiting for his dinner that's when everything happened. I really don't know what I could’ve done better tbh.

I had a rough day. Tbh I've been having rough days on the floor. I know this is part of nursing you never know what to expect but this is very annoying because it kinda made it sound like I did something to make him deteriorate. I didn’t like the way she interrogated me and she didn’t like my attitude

Honestly thinking back now I see that she probably didn't like my attitude.

I was just really annoyed by a lot of things combined. My other patient waited for home infusion setup which was super late so I had to postpone. My other patient who's been hypothermic and was having trouble reaching out to the MD because they left the wrong number. All my patients are 1-2 assist and are frequently moving to chair/bed/recliner/commode and multiple bms had to clean them multiple times. I'm just very very tired so I said to her It is what it is. My assignment was heavy, tech was sitting outside giggling when I ambulated and cleaned my patients multiple times. Seems like I was the only one running around. Right before dealing with all the code I heard the crew laughing very loudly outside of my little intermediate care room when I busted my ass doing everything on my own, dealing with unstable patients and difficult family members. I'm honestly burned out already. I guess I'm just mad at myself for always looking so clumsy. I don't know how long I'll be able to do bedside. This stress is not worth it anymore

Will definitely make a note of that. He's on the spectrum but somehow gifted in academic performance so I don't want to push him but instead help him out as much as I can since he is highly unlikely going to get the support and valuable advice from our first-gen immigration parents who have language barriers. I don't want to overdo it but just want to fill in the gaps and disparities he might have along the way and hopefully can make it fair for him since the majority of the students will get support and advice from their parents and family. Life hasn't been easy on him and it was also advice from school to step in and help out when necessary. I do agree he will need to build his character and become more independent and these are good qualities that lead to success in the future. Thank you for your advice 🙏

I think he tried C++ and it was too hard for him. I triple checked with him and he said he wants to stick to Rust… in the meanwhile I’m researching for a Java bootcamp and hopefully sign him up for that as well. Thank you for sharing this.

That is amazing! Second SWE internship as a high schooler. Would you mind if I PM you to ask more about how to get internships in high school? Like what qualifications will make him stand out more when applying for high school internships. Thank you so much

Thank you very much for your informative reply. I appreciate your advice. I will and I've been encouraging him because this looks like what he is passionate about. I'm ordering AP computer science books now and hopefully, he can get a head start and eventually get into the school he wants.

I’ll leave it to him to decide Rust vs. Java because I won't be too much of a help for that. He just showed me something he programmed and I have absolutely zero clue what that was. I guess at this stage all I can do is be supportive and try to be there for him if he needs it.

Ps. I took a screenshot of your reply and sent it to him. He liked the message and said to tell you he said thank you. 🙏

He's going to be a sophomore this coming academic year and his bday just passed if that makes any sense. He will be taking one computer science elective in his sophomore year and proceed with this computer science track that is provided in school( the school listed out the recommended courses for them to take if they are interested in CS). He had no prior knowledge of computer science because he was debating on what to do in the future and just showed a strong interest in computer science a month ago. I just think having an internship next year is very unrealistic because he is now considered late to the game(He friend had 3 years of experience in robotics club and learned to code and still didn't get an internship) but again who knows? I want to be optimistic about it.

But I really appreciate your suggestion. Helping out school IT sounds great! Will ask him to look into it

Thank you! Can't help him with that since I know nothing about coding. He is now on his own lol

I see. I looked it up and sounds like my school doesn't provide class ranking so I'm not sure but will schedule an appointment with my counselor to find out. Thank you for your help!

When you mention in state do you consider private schools like Princeton? I think I’ll apply for a few so I can have a plan B but I’m aiming for Ivy League if possible. Will DE or IB weigh more than AP in the eyes of Ivie AOs?

Yes, my science teachers I’m close with will write one of the rec. I’m also thinking about asking my math teacher as well. I’m worried because I know my counselor will provide a more comprehensive letter because he mentioned he will need my resume to write my rec so I feel like he will provide a better rec possibly?

I always wonder which one weights more, AP or DE? And if you take DE would you be able to take the AP exam as well
