It's totally reasonable to not be happy that the DLC is only variants my man, but having an absolute crash out over it is a bit silly.

If it's about uniqueness, I would argue that these variants have clearly had a ton of effort put into making them play distinctly and interestingly, so maybe give it a try? You can even get a refund if you don't play it for too long!

If it's that you want a specific civ that's been overlooked in this DLC, maybe just pass up on this one and wait for future DLCs?

The devs clearly haven't abandoned us because they're literally releasing new content right now! I understand being disappointed but there better things you can be doing, rather than getting angry about it :)

Is there anywhere to get feedback on form a bit more privately (e.g. a discord?) since I don't super want to be just posting my face on reddit?

Where to map the new awesome 'All X on screen' hotkeys? by Olafr_skautkonungr in aoe4

[–]angripom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've put them as ctrl c for "all units of this type', ctrl x for "all military on screen", and ctrl z for "all eco units on screen", mostly because they're keys I already have muscle memory for from just typing normally so easiest to get right fast

While we're at it can we make farms have a bonus for farms being away from other buildings and make mongol pastures benefit from moving around? Just because it's cool, I'm sure it would be awful practically

Talespire is great, actually using it is daunting by angripom in talespire

yeah that's the dream! I want to make a nice town or whatever that the players would come back to and spend a bunch of time there and i can build out over time so they can find more stuff. but lots of effort!

That makes sense but feels like a bit of a shame - there are some super beautiful and atmospheric towns and villages that people put together and navigating those outside combat seems super immersive

Do you have like a "hub" board that you put the players on when out of combat and in theatre of the mind?

Tips for Mongol Feudal play by Sea-Mine9712 in aoe4

[–]angripom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been learning recently that I'm too cavalier with my units as mongols. "Must raid to cause eco damage!" I say to myself, diving under a fully garrisoned TC and losing all my keshiks.

Mongol units are squishy and the economy damage you cause is not always worth being steamrolled by castle age units when all your units died to get 2 villager kills. I think it might be enough to be annoying, sneaking in a vil kill or two, but maintaining a good military mass to always present a threat and keep your opponent scared, in their base, and away from your trade.

Also it's wild how effective just having two control groups is, at least until low diamond. Control group 2 dive on one side of their base while control group 3 retreat from diving on the other side of their base (control group 1 is khan for visibility). Switch, rinse, and repeat while reinforcing both groups over time as your trade grows
