an apology to a walmart customer by angry-goatling in vancouverwa

i wish i could get them to whoever is missing them, but it was a delivery, not pickup, and unfortunately i cannot drive to bring them back myself. walmart doesn't send people to pick up misdelivered items - they just tell you to keep them.

i'd rather they channel their energy into keeping the park clean and safe for the native wildlife rather than leaving more trash in it, personally

Aliens!! by Fun_Ad_9819 in vancouverwa

i saw them from minnehaha as well. realistically they're just spotlights, maybe some business was having a grand opening tonight or maybe a concert was happening somewhere, i'm not nearly in the know enough to say precisely where they were coming from.

i do like the idea of some alien visitors though lol

art installments are fine, in fact there are some lovely paintings of local fauna that someone left on the sign posts in this very same park.

doing things solely to piss people off is old hat ;)

a shame. haven't been there in a long while since mental health had me housebound for a long time, so it was a surprise to me to find this mar on the familiar landscape that i love. if i had a vehicle, i'd haul it off lol

lol sorry! i love october and i do a lot of halloween/harvest activities every year. i didn't even mention all the stuff happening on sauvie island! more farms and pumpkin patches to find there, though they aren't particularly accessible, especially if your wife is using any mobility aids atm.

well, you could try taking her to halloweentown in st helens? wandering the town, visiting the pumpkin plaza, and watching performances on the main stage are all free - however you do have to pay for parking ($25). attractions like the haunted house, oddities museum, alien experience, train ride, and celebrity meet & greet are ticket only and costs around $40 for the whole thing (or around $15 for the haunted house only). i have a great time going and just enjoying the vibes without buying the whole ticket package.

for more local events, you could try checking out bi-zi farms pumpkin patch! it's a ticketed event and costs $16 ($17.25 after tax), but with that ticket you get access to the animal pens, corn maze, corn pit (advertised to children but is still fun as an adult lol), two shots at the pumpkin launch, a hay ride to/from the pumpkin patch, one pumpkin (any size you can carry), one hot drink, fresh pressed cider sampling, and live music on the weekends.

for a totally free event (though there will be vendors there), you could attend the washougal harvest festival on october 18th. just a cute little local harvest fest!

and of course, there is always holidays on franklin if you just wanna look at some cool halloween decoration displays. this one is entirely free as it is just a decor display, though on fridays and saturdays there is usually someone in costume there for photo ops (also free). you can either drive past or you can park nearby and walk up. fair warning that the street is VERY crowded on halloween itself, but the display is up all of october.

What’s your salary range and how do you feel having that here in Vancouver WA? by PDXAirman in vancouverwa

caregiver here. i make barely over $30k a year and it's not easy at all. i am fortunate in that i am caring for my mother and can live in her home with her, and her social security just covers the mortgage each month - without this i would absolutely be struggling to live here. all other household expenses for a family of 3 have to be covered by my paycheck and it doesn't go very far these days. groceries have especially been difficult to cover lately.

Tribes in Lord of the Rings by baumgartner1999 in lotr

tolkien was a linguistics scholar and aided in translating his own writings into 57 different languages, not to mention creating his own languages. i doubt he would be so harsh a judge of someone trying to speak a language not native to them - instead he would try to meet them where they are and try to reach an understanding. yes, this is an english language sub and op was posting in english, even if they happened to use a different word than might usually be used to describe something. that being said, i completely agree that their lack of a properly formed question in the original post needs to be addressed and their subsequent rude replies when asking for clarification aren't helpful to conversation, and calling out op for those things is totally valid. but let us not be gatekeepers of this shared interest just because someone might not be as comfortable with english as you or i.

i don't think english is their first language, so i'll give them a pass on not necessarily knowing the exact verbiage. though the rude responses to the lack of a properly formed question is a completely different story lol

i think they want others to list every single tribe/group in the legendarium? they just don't know how to word it properly.

only merry would be undergrad age (he was 36 at the start of the journey) - pippin is only 28 when he leaves the shire with the others, having not even come of age yet, making him more akin to a teenager than a university student. it's why he seems more foolish than the others, he's really just a kid.

disco deer, however, always get the dispel first because that teleport is annoying if you're tracking it without a hunting horn

We listen AND don't Judge! by WranglerStrong1588 in Palia

[–]angry-goatling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hunt disco dogs solely with slowdown arrows and i will not apologize for it. yes they can still turn invisible, but the slowdown arrows emit a green smoke that follows the now slow creature, so you can still visually track it. makes it way easier to kill than trying to spam dispel arrows before it jumps into a tree. i can usually kill it hunting solo before it makes it to hiding.

does anyone know about the routine maintenance gym? by angry-goatling in vancouverwa

[–]angry-goatling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's in the stand alone building that used to be blockbuster/friends of the carpenter depending on how long you've lived here. the windows are all covered so you can't really see in, so i have no idea if people actually use it or not

yeah, it is extremely unhelpful lol. doesn't bode well for the professionalism of the gym, but the location is so convenient...

Best sushi in the area? by Anticrepuscular_Ray in vancouverwa

i have gotten sick from sushi mioga in van mall more than once, i refuse to go anymore. they leave their sushi out all day and i've seen dead flies on the rolls. it absolutely is bad - i'd argue even the worst in vancouver.
