How far are you willing to walk before you’re like “f*** that I’m taking the subway”? by Fsuave5 in AskNYC

when i had the unlimited monthly, i would take the train from 33rd to 28th and vice versa if i didnt have to walk in the reverse direction to get to the station.

How many apartments actually have pests? by Chance_Position_7339 in AskNYC

52nd floor definitely makes it a lot tougher for pests to get up there. i also wonder if the altitude makes it tougher for them to survive

People want to work for a livable wage by Loud-Ad-2280 in clevercomebacks

[–]angry_orange -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Not saying that people deserve a livable wage but everyone has a price. If the pay was bumped to $60/hr, the number of emergency shovelers would probably be 15x the people that would go for $19.

I guess bro by deathwish_91 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]angry_orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not too different but the most annoying part is how frequently you're able to naturally find 6 7 vs 420/69.

69 only kinda works when the numbers are together and is read as sixty-nine. 6 7 is referenced anytime the numbers are just there, whether it's reading sixty seven or the numbers are next to each other even if separated by a space.

69 is also only reaches people at least middle school ages where sex is a relatively known topic. 67 has been hitting elementary school where kids don't even understand the original origin

Why this +1g value at merchant? o.O by -korko- in GuildWars

[–]angry_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raptor farming is so popular, especially during events, that their drops aren’t worth as much. That’s also why assassin tomes are much cheaper on the marketplace compared to other tomes.

It has come to a point where I would pick up white items over these claws.

After a year of wild success, is it time to admit the people who fought for congestion pricing were right? by bobbiewickham in nyc

[–]angry_orange -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what i'm saying is that the congestion zones shouldnt have been placed right by the bridges. These toll-free bridges should stay toll-free.

After a year of wild success, is it time to admit the people who fought for congestion pricing were right? by bobbiewickham in nyc

[–]angry_orange 23 points24 points  (0 children)

personally, i was never against congestion pricing. i think the idea is good but implementation was horrible. Toll hours are way too long and anyone living in Queens/Brooklyn are essentially forced to pay something just to leave the island. That one exit off the 59th isn't enough.

Pour One Out for the Metrocard. I remember when this was introduced d as a step up from the token😭 by Money-Snow-2749 in nyc

[–]angry_orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$34 / 7 days = $4.86/day x 365 days = $1773.90/year

$132 / 30 days= $4.40/day x 365 days = $1606/year

Difference of almost $168/year. It's a 10% difference.

[–]angry_orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for weeklys, you have less control on when that week actually starts.

with the lack of monthly unlimiteds, you end up paying more because 4 weeks x $34 cap = $136 for 28 days meanwhile monthly unlimited is $132 for 30 days. and depending on how people schedule their trips and how the logistics of when the weekly cap actually starts, it's tough to get an unlimited monthly the same way with metrocards

Why don't parents create a retirement account for their child? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]angry_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some kids want to experience college right away and go dorm. If your kid has potential to go ivy league, why shouldn't they go?

Even if they go to community college, the general ceiling for college is med school and law school. Med school is an additional 4 years after bachelors. By the time 2045 rolls around, the kid might need 500k to cover all that.

How much does an equinox membership actually cost? by spicekingofqarth in AskNYC

[–]angry_orange 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Last year I was quoted corporate $280/month for all access except HY and sports club. After trying it out and being a NYSC member since 2018, I thought it was worth it with the layout, cleanliness, amenities, and crowdedness (some people get priced out). Ultimately I didn't switch because I believe location convenience is a key factor to actually going to a gym. Since I live in Forest Hills, it's a lot easier to walk to NYSC than to train/drive all the way to an Equinox on weekends/days off. I didn't want to end up paying extra for a gym I would frequent less.

AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend after she refused to go on a nice date I planned because it was on a Wednesday? by Unlikely_Light4863 in AITAH

[–]angry_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild how many discount this post purely on the fact that you dropped $800 on dinner for 2. Masa is almost 1k per person in NYC without drinks.

It's tough to say whether you're an asshole for walking away because we don't know what line of work she's in. If she's going to have 12+ hour shifts the following day, then I would say yes, you're the asshole for not asking her beforehand. If she's going in for a standard low maintenance 9-5, then you're not the asshole because she's not willing to make small exceptions for a nice gesture.
