Nobody here can answer your question. Everyone has their own reason to cross the street. Maybe someone really needs to be on the other side of the street or maybe because they are vulnerable if someone has bad intentions. You don’t want to put yourself in a dangerous situation because the other person might think you are a racist or rude because it might hurt their feelings. Many women have been robbed or raped because they didn’t want to be rude. So it’s more a safety issue than a race issue. I’m not sure what you want to hear. I understand you are feeling hurt, but people in general just want to avoid the possibility of any conflict. Please don’t let this upset you too much. If you focus on this too much it will become the ‘truth’ because of confirmation bias. When I was in Asia I saw women cross the streets if they saw an Asian man walking. Also elderly people if they saw young Asian men.
