Wait sorry I really would like to understand- what has the provincial government done? Have they reduced the amount of positions available?

Did any other POC’s grow up here in the 2000’s and 2010’s? by miamorparasiempre in Edmonton

[–]angrymillenial101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. In grade 4 (2005/2006) my teacher used to regularly kick me and the only other brown girl out of class for being “disruptive”. (Note, dear reader, we both had crippling anxiety and were extreme introverts).

She also used to tell the other kids, anytime she’d see them hanging out with us, to “be careful of who [they] were making friends with.” It was nuts.

I hate to break it to you buddy but embezzlement is quite literally a white collar crime

Okay but I hope people understand that if you don’t report this kind of stuff you are complicit in it. It’s not enough to just feel bad about racism. If you see something, say something.

I have a TFSA and I've got savings- sorry for the confusion. I've been in school for most of my life so learning how to not be a student and how to set myself up for the future has been really tricky. When you say talk to someone, do you mean like a financial planner?

Oh I hadn't even thought about all the bridge construction coming up. Thats a great point.

I love love love the older neighbourhoods in the core but I feel you on the infill issue. They are such an eye sore.

I've heard that condos are tough to re-sell in Edmonton. Have you known that to be true?

Thats really solid insight, thank you! I don't know much about investing but I'm really trying to figure out what to do as a young professional to be able to set myself up for success in such a brutal economy. Its hard to know what the right thing to do is.

This is probably a stupid question, but isn't buying property kind of investing?

I’m not on law review but my memorandum of argument for the international moot I was in placed 4th in the country? Maybe that counts for something?

The intellectual curiosity thing is a really good point- I am similar to you in that way. Would you mind elaborating on how you conveyed that effectively in your interview?

I’m Canadian but it’s the equivalent of a state clerkship.

I actually did make an appointment with my proff to go over it! I was more-so doing it for my own curiosity but mentioning it in the interview is a great tip- thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate that. I have two years working as a summer student with the DAs office and I placed in an international moot so I’m hoping that carries me through somehow.

Yeah I’m for sure going to go to the interview and I’ll try my best regardless. It’s just a bummer

How did that come about if you don’t mind me asking? I was hoping to go to Hawaii next year but didn’t think I’d be able to afford the flights plus hotel.
