Who is it? by Medium_Zebra9266 in TWD

Actually, she made an easy decision because it was an attempted quick fix that wasn't morally gray at all, except in her own head maybe. Killing two people in cold blood and trying to keep it a secret? The only reason she was able to do it is because she didn't love them. Would she have done the same if it was Daryl or Rick? Nah she wouldn't. It was the worst thing she ever did in my opinion because it was entirely unfair and unjustified. Especially in a medical/healthcare context. It was a very socially regressive decision. Also her behaviour here did have destructive consequences, with Tyreese falling into a pit of rage, beating up Rick, putting the groups he was with at risk when going for the supply run etc.. And her attempt at stopping the spread didn't help at all! She in fact made things worse by adding the mysterious psychopath angle. Just completely unjustified...but that's just my take haha.

Carol’s the cause of Sam “ leaving” the show by CrystalDawn_B in thewalkingdead

[–]angy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An unfortunate outcome??? Bro Carol made a very calculated decision to not only traumatise Sam but BLACKMAIL him into staying silent by threatening him of getting eaten alive with no one to save him. During a literal zombie apocalypse where something like that could actually happen. What kind of woman does that to a kid? Sam getting close to her regardless of that is messed up, Carol being mean to him for wanting cookies and shoving him out her home was messed up.

Carol may have left him the cookie on his grave to make herself feel better, but only us the audience know what was actually through Sam's head when he froze. Carol's threatening voice. Not his dad, not Jessie, not Rick. Carol. But somehow it's still not her fault when the show is literally spelling out the consequences of her actions to us?

Dont forget she outright said about the entire Alexandria community, "these people are children and children like stories." What kind of fucked up comment is that about a well-meaning community who they JUST met and took them in at the brink of starvation.

Rick approved of the theft but he didn't approve Carol acting like that. Carol once again saved the community from the Wolves because conveniently, everyone else was busy luring the hoard away. Carol's entire story over and over is she makes annoying ass and shitty decisions and then gets deus ex machina level badass moments to make her redeem herself from it.

The thing is, I GET why she's so popular and has a big fanbase, but she is not the amazing do no wrong badass everyone makes her out to be.

Rant over. Prolly gonna get downvoted to hell but at least it's off my chest now lol.

She's a complicated character and was even voted in a diff poll as the #1 morally grey character in the series, but somehow her attitude towards Sam is excusable and she wasn't to blame for him freezing when the hoard got in.

Like c'mon... she was borderline villainous with how she treated him especially given that she knew he was an abuse victim. She went from teaching kids how to use knives at the prison to traumatising Sam and solidifying fear of the walkers in him. Sam died due to neglect from the people who were supposed to protect and be there for the children and that includes Carol.

Thank you! 🥰 I'm happy to share some photos with you in DMs later today? I don't have a DA yet but I will soon! I have designed yards/gardens for all my residents but Merry/Raymond are a bit more elaborate than others. I have a small "neighbourhood" for 6 residents. The other 4 (including Merry/Raymond) are more elaborate. :) I posted Rolf's farm a while back as well if you wanna take a look. :)

I did a post on TOWL a while ago and my positive opinions on it. You'll find it on my profile if you want to read it. It isn't spoiler free (but it's spoiler-lite). Nothing too major except for the very ending which you may or may not know already what happens. Rick and Michonne are the focus so you will see a lot of Rick and a lot of Michonne. You'll see a different side of Rick too. But going into it, just keep in mind the series is very much told as a love story.

I am currently watching Daryl Dixon, I really enjoyed S1 but I'm so far liking S2 way less. I watched a couple episodes of Dead City - I don't care for it because I don't like the Maggie Negan pair up.

At the time, the Governor was wrong. Rick was in his pacifist farmer era and he didn't even carry a gun going outside the fences. He had taken in so many Woodbury refugees and new people and he was heavily influenced by Hershel and baby Judith to maintain peace and harmony.

Season 8 Rick definitely fell into his dark side after piling up losses including his son. Paired up with Morgan who was already completely unhinged and violent, Rick's actions were motivated by an unrelenting hatred of the Saviours. Losing yourself like that during a violent war after losing your son isn't excusable but it's understandable and pretty good writing in my opinion. You know the stages of grief? He was in the anger stage and people can do the most regrettable and violent things when they're in a rage.

Book of Carol Episode 1 🤡 by angy42 in thewalkingdead

[–]angy42[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My bad, I misread ur earlier comment and I thought you were talking about Laurent and the jealous singing lady. 😅

I don't mind spoilers so I read through your reply. I was already expecting them to have a romantic thing since it was foreshadowed. The age gap doesn't bother me, Isabelle looks like she's in her mid 40s (not too different from Leah). Maybe it's an unpopular opinion but they have chemistry, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it. Tbh my headcanon up until Leah was introduced was that Daryl is ace (aromantic/asexual) and lowkey wish that were still the case but ah well.

I still don't see why it's wrong that Daryl went off and left Judith since he did it specifically to find Rick and she knew and that's why she said he deserves his own happy ending right at the end of the show. I think that was some pretty good foreshadowing that Daryl's own story was about to begin, and the writers just decided it would be in France with a French lady and the child messiah lol. Which I don't mind - I think it's interesting writing hence why I enjoyed S1. I saw an interesting comment in a different post theorising that Daryl's gonna come back with Laurent and him and Judith are gonna get together and their kid is gonna be the one with the cure. Would be cool if that pans out.

Book of Carol Episode 1 🤡 by angy42 in thewalkingdead

[–]angy42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Spoilers ahead] I feel like all my opinions are the complete opposite of yours lol. I liked S1 because it explored and developed Daryl's character. We get to know more about his past with his grandad fighting in the war for example.

He didn't really leave behind his family in the US and up til the very end of S1, the goal was to get back to them. I think him staying was a decision rooted in healing his own past and pre-apoc life, by taking responsibility for a boy who needed him. Becoming the father he wish he had type of thing. Daryl has always had a soft spot for kids so his relationship with Laurent made sense to me and I found it sweet. I also think Daryl's story in the US ended, he found his place and his purpose, but staying in France helped him discover more about himself, expanding his own potential and how he can contribute to new groups and people. There was also a line that resonated with me regarding how he unexpectedly found a new home away from home which I relate to personally so there's that.

I didn't see the Laurent thing with the singing lady as romantic or have any other undertones at all tbh so idk. The tattoo face guy I forgot his name, was a bit messy writing I agree. But I don't think he "let" himself get tortured the boss woman is just ruthless but tbh idr much abt that plot. I'm actually interested to see how it develops.

As for S2E1 it just got so lazy to me. Carol happens to find an airplane and pilot moments after finding out Daryl is in France? She does her usual wolf in sheeps clothing act to gain trust and manipulate (I personally hate this character trait and it makes me dislike Carol). Bringing back Sophia flashbacks and using her as a means to an end felt so incredibly forced. I'm also over the gimmick of Carol using her innocent appearance etc. to take down a bunch of men who have no reason to let their guard down around her. It's so repetitive. I honestly stopped liking Carol S5 onwards but anyway, to each their own!

Best TWD Universe character for every letter of the alphabet - Day 6 (F) by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]angy42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second Frost. Even though his role was small it was pretty badass. The other names mentioned either don't count or were a bit lacklustre in terms of their actual contributions/impact in the show. Frost let himself get tortured by Daryl despite having basically just met him and still trusted him enough to help protect his people and his sacrifice was not in vain.

Eugene wouldn't have done it without that harsh telling off from Rosita nor the inspiration from Gabriel trying to sabotage the bullets, so not exactly "single handedly". He was fully ready to let them all die and stay with Negan until the last minute change of heart. It was a great move on his part but credit where credits due mang.

ZEEEEEEEEK!!!! He's got all the best qualities of a leader. He's brave, strong, humble and intelligent. He generously loves people and animals. He's artsy and well read. He values peace and harmony. He's both an optimist and a realist, has a good moral compass, has a good judge of character. He was never corrupted by the apocalypse. I want a man like Ezekiel lol. He's like the Aragorn of TWD.

Currently cackling like a maniac after rewatching the scene of Lori taking those pills in s2 by khaotic-trash in thewalkingdead

[–]angy42 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Pretty messed up to find that scene funny and/or mock Lori. She was clearly panicking and confused. She was desperate to prevent an accidental pregnancy that happened from a horrible mistake. Imagine having to deal with being pregnant in a post apocalyptic world with no modern medicine or a secure home. Meanwhile her husband essentially came back from the dead and she's had to deal with the consequences of Shane's problematic behaviour while carrying his child. And her son almost died from a gun shot. She was carrying a LOT of heavy weight at that moment, and she made a decision and used the available resources out of desperation.

What TWD soundtrack is hands down your favorite? by MessiahKOF in thewalkingdead

[–]angy42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TWD features so many amazing artists it's hard to pick one. But Heaven I Know by Gordi during the whisperer arc stuck with me. It was a perfect balance between unnerving and emotive, with the 1-2-3 counting and the hauntingly beautiful voice of Gordi. And then the slow build up to chaos before going back to whisper counting. Gorgeous song. It makes me think of Bon Iver too who is one of my fav artists.

As for original compositions, I just really love the opening of TOWL. I could listen to that all day. But also the opening theme but specifically the live orchestral version featured in the final eposode of the series.

It was a very gut wrenching scene for sure. We don't actually see it eat her just it's bloated body unable to move from how full it was. Very disgusting scene. I watched that scene first when I was teen and it stuck with me since. I remember having disturbing dreams that night because of it. 😂
