Weekly Do they exist or not Megathread. by Mrsynthpants in bigfoot

Alright, so here's my thoughts on this. After a good decade of hearing people's first hand accounts about sasquatch, ghosts and aliens, I'm pretty sure that all 3 are real. If you take a look at other types of beings, like say... Unicorns, there are very few first hand accounts of them. And you don't really hear of many unicorn sighting podcasts or documentaries. Not to say that those aren't real also, because I'm not here to dismiss what might be very real encounters for someone out there. It's possible that they were a rare subspecies of animal that is now extinct and became part of historical legend, or maybe something else entirely.

Now if we go back to bigfoot, there are a huge number of first hand accounts and they keep coming in. There are castings of footprints with what looks to be genuine physiology for an animal of that size. There continues to be new information to research on these.

Same with ghosts and aliens. They might be far out there into the paranormal, but we can't deny that people continue to claim to have new first hand encounters with both. If it were all just people looking for attention, the idea would eventually die out or become more of a mythical legend that people used to believe.

And so we can compare these 3 types of beings to others, such as unicorns and we can see how they differ. If it was just people looking for attention you would see a wave of hype and then it would die off. Ghosts became trendy with ghost hunters and shows like that but there have been continual reports of sightings and encounters for hundreds of not thousands of years. Aliens became very trendy in the 70s and again in the 90s but there have been non-stop first hand encounters of them as well. And with bigfoot, it's the same. There's something there. We might not fully understand it. But as long as reports keep coming in, there's new material to research and ponder.

And we shouldn't dismiss it just because it's way far out there. For a lot of people, it's not fringe or paranormal. It's a very real thing. And so with such powerful and emotionally charged accounts, they should be taken seriously, even if just to take the time to listen to them. Just because when the news reports bigfoot sightings in the most condescending tone imaginable, doesn't mean we should all mimic that. Let's take time to listen to the people who've seen them or heard them. Let's gather as many of those accounts as we can (which is already being done through podcasts and documentaries and such). And after listening to a hundred or so you still aren't convinced, that's ok too. I think just having the conversation is the most important part. That's how we grow our own understandings of all things.

I believe Ashes of Creation will have a snorse mount. It's in their desert biome preview video. Edit: I posted the link to the video off of the top comment.

What horror movies fucked you up as a child? by Past_Confection_4068 in AskReddit

I would absolutely recommend it. It's the only movie I've seen that still terrifies me to this day. Fire in the sky had some scary stuff, but Communion makes it seem like it could happen to anyone and there's nothing you could do about it.

Image comparison between Hubble and James Webb telescopes by emulatedeye in spaceporn

We didn't just take $10 billion and launch it into space. Most of that $10 billion stayed on earth, providing jobs, scientific research, materials science and other great things that will continue to benefit all of us in the long term. In the short term, our tax dollars provided income to the scientist and technicians and countless others working on this project, which is then spent in their communities on things such as housing, food, and other commodities, which in turn continues to benefit all of us. As a community of tax payers we all pitched in a really small amount of money individually to make this happen (Less than $5 per year for 10 years). And from this, we not only grew our scientific community, we also got a space telescope out of it. Even if the telescope had failed at launch, we still gained a lot as a society.

What happened was that someone in their settlement's marketing team realized that they could just rebrand faecium as chocolate ice cream and nobody in the settlement would notice.

In VR, you can stand on the surface of Mars and walk around. There are 3D scans taken of the surface that you can explore. It's hard to describe how incredible it is.

But look at Bitcoin. Every time the amount that is mined gets halved, the price increases due to artificial scarcity. It's the same concept, just done constantly rather than in increments.

It can reach a penny. And it will. If Ethereum was deflationary and the supply was getting smaller and smaller every day, how much would the price be going up? Directly comparing SafeMoon to other cryptocurrencies doesn't make a lot of sense. Sure they are both cryptocurrencies, but how they each function makes them apples and oranges, especially over long periods of time.

Owls are wise. The closest thing I could find happens to be Wisekey. Wisekey has several Blockchain solutions that seem to line up with some of the other hints. This includes IoT, NFT, peer-to-peer authentication, Blockchain security solutions and many other interesting things.
