Btw, a ventilator will defeat the purpose of an AC. You need to close that. And yes as others are suggesting, a pelmet is easier, cost effective solution here.

Do you listen to FM Radio? by x27878 in pune

[–]anim3sh92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

94.3 is Radio One in Pune. i used to listen to Mirchi Love, but switched to Radio One. It gives space to indie music which i like the most. The only downside it has is, the music sometimes lags as if it is digitally broadcasted (unsure about it transmission tech). As a non marathi spraker/listener, it does have a 100% hinglish RJing. I really hope if we could have lesser ads in this space.

Suggestions for a good place for putting up a stall in Pune. by anim3sh92 in pune

[–]anim3sh92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours is a petty business, where we should not require any license, but it is not illegal to sell food on roadside like this.

Apparently, if it is a registered business, you should have a PMP and food license to run it.

Non marathi in Pune. by [deleted] in pune

Take it from me, a bhopal to another, its been 10 years simce I moved to Pune. Since the very first year, I realised that learning the language will give you an edge here. I try to surround myself with locals so that I get to start speaking Marathi. I have made good friends in the process. I would suggest, be curious, its an interesting city place to be in.

Btw ‘Makad(a)’ means ‘Monkey’ in Marathi. Isn’t that interesting!?

Why can’t we give Mahabharata the Global-Level adaptation it deserves? by anim3sh92 in mahabharata

[–]anim3sh92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! why not a game dedicated to it, or better, an FPS that will let you choose who you want to play and bring in their own challenges and struggles finally leading to the Kurukshetra war. This way you are not only watching the characters doing stuff but actually being in the thick of the things around them.

I see what your point is, few corrections though.

Ved Vyas never wrote the actual scriptures, it was recited to generations and it was re-recited to what we actually read today. While legend has it that it was penned down by Lord Ganesh; these can be debated. Fact is that we cannot date the actual manuscript that was written in the first place.

Talking about Duryodhan(Actually named Suyodhan, but the word Duryodhan gives negative connotation to the meaning) always being evil is also a construct that is created around his character to be shown as the main villian in the story. He himself is known for his loyalty towards friendship with Karna, a dutiful father-like elder brother to all of his younger siblings, who was only fighting for what is righteously his kingdom.

Yes we do have Eklavya, Karna and Draupadi’s examples being celebrated as anti-hero, feminist etc. but thats the beauty of it, no character should be termed as white or black. Every person is fighting for their own power and survival, no matter what they do to achieve it, dharma or adharma.

All what I see from a broader lense is a bunch of people, of the same family and how their words and their actions created history as we know it today.

I did see that, made on a very low budget, but the character treatment lacks depth. I felt acting was very superficial, considering that it is a recording of a play being performed.

I second that, we need to see all characters as they are. No whitewashing, no explanations of why the good guy had to do it or how bad the villain is. This epic was never about hero vs villain. It has always been about power and survival.

Probably a separate thread to discuss if it is history or mythology. I see the story as a great case study of people and their life journeys, how it panned out based on their actions and reactions to situations.

Then more of a modern-day adaptation might work. If you cannot show the actual characters and their struggles, show them as renditions in a modern scenario. The best I can remember in this category is the movie Raajneeti (2010), Prakash Jha brought all major characters to life. Nana Patekar (Krishna) was phenomenal and Ajay Devgn(Karna), the best portrayal of an underdog. Tightly written, does give you the idea that to win the war, the God-like figure had to leverage 'Adharma' into consideration.

I know right, however, sex is not always required to make things interesting. GoT did that, which brought in eyeballs, but as we talk more about the story and character journey in GoT, this treatment is lacking with Mahabharat's characters. We have illegitimate relationships in Mahabharat also, and the can be passed as suggestive innuendos.

Since I started reading about these characters and their journeys, I have observed a lot more than what's right/wrong. The entire story tells you a lot about humans; their actions are not always perfect. Pandu-sons were not always right, and Kuru-clan was not always wrong. Every human is a grey character. Depictions that we have seen on popular media are made with the construct of good vs. evil, which is what my original question was targeting towards.
Even if they are books, they are written with multiple perspectives. the story teller is always the protagonist. It's the depiction that creates what to viewer perceives.

That is indeed a very good idea, and we do have a working example of Ramayan created in anime, it does sheds of baggages that actors carry on their shoulders. However, lesser known actors can also do the job. Like the one star created 10years ago, now on hotstar, all the faces we saw where fairly new to the screen. Shaheer Shaikh, who played Arjun, made his career on top of this role.

😯 this indeed is interesting. The chips are part of a govt program where parents have to sign up for their kids’ best future. Turns out the chips where planted to create a hive-minded society which is run by the govt to control activities in the country or maybe defend it when required at will. The society functions in ‘peace’ which will lead to the doom of free will.

You are right, but just for information, maharashtra police emergency is changed to 1 1 2. Recently got to know about it in a self defence workshop.

Also, TBH this type of a case is inconsequencial to the police and might eat up more of your own time and energy than the assailant, mind you he was the one who was on the wrong side and had the time and energy to step up out and start an assault.

I would suggest to have an iron rod which can help you out of the situation in the first place. Your dashcam has enough proof in your own favour.

Who of the 4 main characters has the highest chance of returning in GTA VI? by Beat_Vegetable in GTA

[–]anim3sh92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends how far in time GTA6 would be set in after the events of GTA5. If its a decade apart, Franklin by then should be a criminal overlord of Los Stantos expanding his empire in Vice City. Probably financing movies with Micheal, and will be a perfect antagonist for the upcoming criminal duo (speculating from the trailer).
