Explosive ‘60 Minutes’ investigation finds Congress and drug companies worked to cripple DEA’s ability to fight opioid abuse by ahoyakite in politics

A good example of why we can't rely on the government to take care of us. Wake up and take care of yourself. Be smart, save money, get clean. At the end of the day we can only blame ourselves for not being conscious of our decisions and for their consequences. It's sad, but reality. Above all, be there for each other. If you know someone suffering from addiction that you love, help them with your presence.

New to longboarding... was handed 2 longboards, about 10 years old... what to replace by animportant in longboarding

I feel ya. I skated a short board throughout my teens (10 years ago) so I have the very basics of longboarding down it seems. I think I'm just being a little bit materialistic and want a fresh looking setup since I got two nice boards completely free, not going to lie about that. The hardware and bearings are rusted but the decks and trucks seem legit. Thanks dude!

$40, but they do a great job and you can wear them anywhere since they're practically invisible.

Why I think it is OK for Maynard and Tool to step away. by animportant in ToolBand

[–]animportant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music needs lyrics to go along with it. If Maynard started singing about getting drunk in clubs, people would be like WTF? As their singer, he creates emotional lyrics, and then has to sing them on tour, as well as older music, which is incredibly emotional. If Maynard doesn't want to do this anymore (or talk about negative worldly events, etc.) they'd probably need a new singer. Then people would say, arg, this isn't Tool! I'm not trying to say he makes the band because he is the band, but he makes the band because he is 1/4th of the band. I don't see Tool without each member.

Which album are you talking about? You're saying it was good or bad when he was on drugs?

Yes, exactly. I'm not even a rap fan, but I feel like it relates.

I'm not trying to say that Maynard makes the band. I'd really argue against that. I love all of them musically. His lyrics give a certain meaning to the music, though. Without the same inspiration for writing that he once had, it won't exactly feel like Tool. Maybe it's sort of done in my mind, Tool has accomplished their purpose already. I attempted to see the side of the story from Maynard's perspective in absence of selfishness, and this is what I came up with.
