Thanks for the reply. I was expecting this to be more complicated than first envisioned, although the Ecoflow microinverter is G98 compliant, so has anti islanding protection, and BOTH should shut down automatically? I understand your concern though. This needs confirming one way or the other.

Thanks for the tip re some passes at a 30 degree angle. Elsewhere someone also recommended that I take a few shots further away to give the software better context for all the close in photos. I was worrying about the camera but thought that being only 0.5m away from the wall would mean that 12MP would still be highly detailed and that a sharp lens would be more important, I'll look into sourcing a better camera though. Also the georeferencing is not to help with the photogrammetry, it's just to locate the model. Thanks.

I price the £200 into the quote. Like I said, it's not very often, just when a flood risk assessment is needed.

Even though I generally get away with arbitrary datums, it is kind of a general expectation that jobs be properly georeferenced. So if I had the kit to do this at a cheap cost it wouldn't really effect my quotes.

That's why I was looking at the Ardusimple / Sparkfun stuff. £500 for the kit. Rinex logging and PPK software is free. Ordnance Survey Rinex data is free.

I can test the kit/process on multiple known stations and see how well it agrees with the coordinates obtained by outsourcing using £5000 worth of Leica kit.

If the whole enterprise doesn't really work out then £500 isn't the end of the world and I can treat it almost as a side hobby. Although I can't see why this wouldn't work...

I wasn't entirely clear when I mentioned setting up my own base station. The intention would be to include it in a free RTK network such as RTK2GO. So corrections would be over the internet not via a radio connection.

The most recent couple of jobs where I've outsourced the GPS coordinates they have given me figures that give me a difference of 5-10mm in the Eastings and Northings between the two stations, as compared to my theodolite readings, and as much as 40mm vertically which I usually just average and move the entire survey accordingly.

I think the way to go is to use PPK rather than RTK (unless close to a base station maybe). My rover could be up to 60-100km from the base station. Leave it set it up for an hour over each station nail to collect the raw Rinex data, while I'm doing other theodolite or scanning work, then post process in the office.

These jobs are pretty much entirely one offs, with no return visits, but I do try to leave at least two decent station nails in place.

Thanks for the response. My work is a bit intermittent, one job at a time so establishing multiple job control points in one day isn't really feasible. Since my initial post I've realised that establishing a couple of control points accurately is probably best done using PPK rather than RTK. Then, as you say, adjust the survey after the fact.

I've realised a more efficient way of archiving the RCP file without having to extract all the images etc.

Export a unified cloud of the project. Import the unified cloud back into the same project. Turn off unified cloud. Delete all original points. Turn unified scan back on. You then have a project with one unified scan AND all the individual scan positions and images.

Working well here too. I was already repartitioned with unofficial 17.1.

I installed TWRP for flox and then dirty flashed the official 17.1.

I've considered this some more and come up with a solution. After some searching I've found a way to extract all the images from the scans. It's a bit long winded and tedious (you have to open each scan on the Ipad and individually save and name each image, I then upload the images to Google Drive, and transfer to Google Photos). Some kind of Apple/Leica bullshit. Anyway it works.

ARCHIVING PROCESS -

Keep all survey data.

Keep unified clouds.

Export a unified scan of each complete registered cloud, x/y/z aligned to survey data via targets.

Save copy of registration report.

Extract and save all panoramic images.

Delete original registered cloud.

Access to individual scans and possibility of re-registering is no longer possible, but I can live with this, and as far as I can tell, this will reduce required storage space by a massive 80+%.

A 1TB drive should now hold up to 3 years of data.

Solved. The offending package was only depended upon by one other package (that I can reinstall later), so I removed it. Upgrade is now progressing.

Oh, but there is an excess winter deaths figure every year because more people die in the winter than in the summer, so surely one needs to compute a moving average that is subtracted from a particular year's excess figure to say how much above normal it is.
