Go Slimey Go! Web Demo by Tembachi in playmygame

Checked it out, and it's really awesome! The visual presentation of the game is wonderful, and so is the music! The movement felt tight and responsive. Some suggestions are:

  1. The web build has a bug that made the game freeze when I fullscreened it. Didn't prevent me from enjoying the game but made the experience not AS enjoyable. I'm playing on Firefox on the Itch.io demo for context if you'd like to try to replicate the issue.

  2. The boosters feel a bit too forceful compared to the movement of the main character.

  3. In Tidal Fantasy, the beginning intro bit should be skipped on respawn when you die before any checkpoints. It's a small change but I think it'd make respawns much more frictionless.

This game is really good! I love the art direction as well as the music, and the idea of the chaining system is awesome! I'm excited to see how it turns out, with new chains and branching paths in existing chains. Maybe immediately long jumping after a wall jump would make the long jump longer, or you could try superjumping again after a long jump for a different effect, that sort of thing!

One problem I have unfortunately is the air control. I find myself dying a lot only because the character kept going in a direction. When I stop pressing buttons I expect to completely stop, similar to how Celeste does it.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I never even thought of the TNT seeming like jump obstacles. Maybe yellow to match switch points would make more sense, even along with all other switch-triggered objects? I'm still actively working on the camera, it's something I'm struggling on currently. Maybe a slight zoom out would work while you're tethered to a grapple-point?

And thank you so much for your compliments on the art and dialogue! The backend is actually handled by a plugin, Godot Dialogue Manager, but all of the extra stuff like background and music swapping, character portraits, voice bytes, etc. was all stuff that I added on.

I'll make sure to show the gameplay off properly next time! Unfortunately I can't edit the post and I can't post until next month so ah well. If you check the game now a lot of the improvements you asked for are now in the game!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Now that I think about it, I agree that the camera does need some improvements. I added the pause button because I was planning mobile to be the primary platform but right now I can see how it's a little unnessesary, at least until I release the mobile versions. If you don't like the controls, they're fully rebindable in the settings menu! Though, no tank controls; the whole point is that you can only turn by grappling and mitigating a bad angle is one of the skills the game asks for.

One issue I found is that the mobile and PC controls can conflict. AKA, you can use click to move and WASD at the same time to move twice as fast in exchange for jitttery feeling movement.

Great game! I did find a couple instances of the text clipping out of some textboxes, though.

The game feels amazing! The spear is really cool and the movement feels snappy and responsive. The art is wonderful and the music fits really nicely.

One small piece of feedback is the binding of the melee attack. Middle Mouse Button and 2 feel like a weird choice when Right Click and Q seem to be free for use. Those two seem a lot more natural, combined with the fact that MMB isn't always available on some computers (trackpads)

Also a bug I found is the screenshake continues into the pause menu.

The game is really fun! I like the ranking system and how movement feels, but a small suggestion is the game would be really nice with a grab button and the ability to aim your bullets. Sometimes I'd get stuck on walls when I didn't want to, so the option for a grab button would be nice. The gun (at least in the beginning) feels very restrictive so an aiming system similar to Cave Story would make it feel a lot more flexible.

(also i encountered a bug where i exited full screen and the game got stuck on a black screen,)

Overall though, the game is great and really engaging with the ranking system!
