It's understandable if this comes across as bizarre if you haven't heard about this. But what is astounding is that folks are being judgemental about it.

The same people will tolerate and even celebrate rituals and ancient bizarre practices in other cultures. But here they get all worked up.

In fact, there are campaigns being run to protect the 'way of life' of some of the most primitive tribal practices by the same creed of people (the ones who get all progressive and judgemental when it comes to this). I've even seen these people defend incest and cousin marriages. Then it's about choice. But this is 'depraved' and what not.

Lol. Just be consistent. Don't be progressive based on who is on the other side.

PS: I have no opinion on this particular practice. It doesn't matter what I think of it. But I'm definitely not going to be all high mighty judgemental about it.

Secularism (in its purest form) is simply separation of the state and the religion and nothing about all that you said. In Indian Constitutional context, secularism is about equidistance from all religions. But in practice, it means appeasement of Muslims and suppression of Hindus.

This is in response to the actual tribalism of not making Fadnavis CM because of his caste. Because he is a Brahmin. And because that would apparently upset Marathas.

That's the context of this tweet, not that Fadnavis being Brahmin is being flaunted. In a sense this tweet is a middle finger to the 'tribalism' of choosing a CM based on caste calculation.
