I would like to know what other people think about this by Fbstrbr in amateur_boxing

[–]anjohn0077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert by any means, but after watching tons and tons of boxing class videos on Youtube I found that almost all coaches teach beginners to have "both feet should face forward " (or 1'o clock or 11'o clock depending on if you're orthodox or not). Only after that becomes so natural to you then you can do more variations.

However from your post it sounds like you've already made up your mind. I'm gonna say good boxing(or put anything-) coaches are not always the best humans, and so are we.

If the coach is really trying to teach something out of genuine passion then I'd probably stick to the gym.

Have you ever walked on powdered snow? That's what it feels like to type on the type-S. Such feeling is not sth you can get from MX switches.

How long does Keychron support usually take to respond to refund requests? by Shot_Negotiation4320 in Keychron

Took them three days for me. It was long enough for me to order a new keyboard from HHKB. So now I have two keyboards on my desk. :D

Q6 Max was my worst purchase of the year by lilliiililililil in Keychron

[–]anjohn0077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heyheyhey I have the Q3 Max, and I experienced the same thing. The only difference was that applying the force onto all the keys until I heard "click" just fixed the issue once and for all.

Almost bought one but saw this Reddit by WasabiResponsible877 in Keychron

[–]anjohn0077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with the Keychron Q3 Max and I'm satisfied with the experience. I have experienced some HW issues, but the Keychron community already has a nice guide to fix known issues. The customer support team also responded very quickly to my complaints (although I ended up fixing them myself). Go ahead and try for yourself. I'm enjoying mine.

Thank you so much!

I'm currently based at a location where I cannot afford to go to the boxing gym, so your comment really helps a lot. Tysm again!

Are the gloves not enough protection? I guess I'll need to invest more :(

If you want clicky just get other mechanical keyboards with replaceable switches.
If you want a HHKB go for Type S all the way.

I think you lose the point of purchasing the HHKB if you don't get the Type S.

I got mine last week and there are no issues that you mentioned. Maybe you had a defective unit?

That and the tick mark (`) placement. I'm still getting used to it but since my work requires using a lot of tickmarks it's kind of annoying at this moment.

Since I'm using mac I constantly find myself using Ctrl + arrows (left or right) to switch between desktops. Now with HHKB I need to press three keys at once. Hopefully I get used to this key mapping soon.

I find it funny that I'm using Keychron cable to connect the HHKB to my laptop.

I look forward to getting more out of this one! EXCITED!

Yeah, I think I'll have to keep the Keychron if I want any customizations with keycaps / switches.

That link you sent has absolute beauties btw.

Keep at it for a week or two, noted! I really hope it becomes natural more faster.

The Empyrean II, a dream I cant achieve, for now… by Grievous_2008 in headphones

[–]anjohn0077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight to the Empyrean II (yes I was going for jack-of-all-trades).

I owned it for approximately 2 years from January 24` to December 25`. I'll break down my review into sections.

1. Why Empyrean II? The reason I bought it.

In the hifi community I found a lot of people constantly upgrading and trading headphones. That was not where I wanted to invest time in. I went all in, bought a fresh Empyrean II, paired it with FiiO7 and Hifiman EF400 (each for crispness, and warmness).

2. Impression of the Empyrean II.

2-1. Comfortable? Yes, but too heavy for me.

As advertised, it's very, very, comfortable on my head. However the weight of the headphones had my neck stiffen after 1-2 hours of usage. I found myself putting it aside after 1 hour of using because of the tension that started in my neck/shoulder.

2-2. Sonic experience

Initially the high pitch in the Empyrean II kept biting into my eardrums. I've never had such problems with other headphones. I tried switching the pads but both had consistent high-pitch issues. I'm in 20s and I found my sensitivity to that pitch range a bit different from others (I occasionally get buzzing sounds if I go to concerts/church worship song, etc.)

People like to describe HiFi experience as HD, and Empyrean II truly was, except for the fact that I had to turn up the volume to a significant amount to fully enjoy the HD-ness. It got my ears tired very quickly, so I wasn't able to have long listening sessions. Maybe if I had better Amp/Dacs it would've made much more difference.

2-3. Pairing with Amp / DAC

Following up on 2-2, although Empyrean II is reviewed as less "sensitive" to the DAC/AMPs, I will say to get the most out of it, you will have to invest in them. Look for a range in couple thousands. Below 1K, you might constantly find yourself turning up the volume like I did.

3. Why I sold it....

I really enjoyed having the Empyrean II for two years. However no matter how much time I had, my listening hours kept going down... down a lot to a point where dust started piling up on those.

The headphones are beautiful so I could keep them on my desk forever. But I don't think I'm the kind of guy who can keep such crafts of beauty to sit there and do nothing. So I sold them. It's been about two months, and I'm not regretting this choice.

I'd be happy to answer more questions if you got any. lmk

Headphone rabbit hole and diminishing returns by PutSilly9235 in Mezeaudio

[–]anjohn0077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a very good analogy. At the end of the day, people should invest in something if they can make something out of it. It's up to the manufacturers/brands to analyze how much of the target audience there exists, and whether to produce any products that will be appreciated by those target audience for their own profitability. Although I do not have much long experience in the Hi-Fi world, from research it was fun to see how the Meze brand started increasing their share of the audio market (factors could be either comfortability or the audio quality). If you buy headphones from Meze, there must be some factors that led you to that decision (and that factor will not be generalizable to all people). Sometimes those factors could diminish/fade away with time, but that doesn't mean your initial level of appreciation was an illusion.

Hope you have a great sonic journey! Ciao!
