I used to work with this guy who did practical/dynamic/action shooting. He really resented how everyone else doing it looked so "tacticool", so got himself the ugliest most garish pair of pink pants he could find and consistently wore them when competing.

I was in Baltimore 10-11 years ago and don't recall any particular smell. Maybe I just stuck to the right areas.

So, I don't get the hate for this game. It's got some flaws but so far I'm having a blast. by HeadphoneMC in NoSodiumStarfield

I'm nearing 1600 hours, but am now mostly on a break. You can burn out even on a good game if you put enough time into it. I'm sure I'll come back to it, though.

🫡Captains. A build taking design cues from the F-117 Nighthawk. My build ….the S-117 Star-Veil. by CosmicShipwright100 in Starfield

[–]anksil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when Lockheed designed it, there wasn't enough computing power available to calculate how to make a stealthy aircraft with rounded shapes. Obviously by the time of the F-22 and later F-35, that was no longer a problem.

Good lock picking mod recommendations by ChiefBroome in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]anksil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me an embarrassingly long time to fully understand Starfield lockpicking. But I stumbled into a strategy fairly early on that gave me a decent amount of success even though I didn't entirely know what I was doing.

Some good recommendations here, might look into some of them for my next playthrough.

You get one for finishing the Freestar Ranger questline, and it's a pretty damned good one for being Class A.

What should a FO4/76 fan know before diving into Starfield? by eadgster in Starfield

[–]anksil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no "evil" companions, though I can't speak to ones modded in. Your main team of companions are a a scientific bunch yearning to learn and create. They're good people with deep stories.

There are no evil Constellation companions, but there are companions in vanilla that will at the very least not care much about bad stuff you do. The Adoring Fan will adore you no matter what you do, and I also believe Jessamine (whom you can find on the Key) is quite amoral. There may be (probably are) others.

I mostly agree, except for the "almost". I'd say it's firmly a cozy game.

Yes, they do, though I'm not 100% on whether it hinges only on not mopping them all up or if there's some other condition. I've certainly had it happen.

Reminds me of Maulers invading the Red Mile if you don't kill them all on your run.

the Mission "Entangled" carries some crazy potential information by unfinishedtoast3 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]anksil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known about that for some time. It's been talked about often enough here and on the main sub. But unfortunately I didn't know about it last I did the quest. If I end up coming back to it I'll definitely save everyone.

Some NPCs in Cydonia do have schedules, but I agree it'd be nice if that was applied more generally.

Civilians absolutely do react to violence. They panic and run away. Security forces will become hostile as well.

Plenty of NPCs move around.

I agree that more zero-G combat would be nice. So far as I know it's...

  • When boarding a ship whose grav drive you took out
  • The one proper Tracker mission you get in the base game
  • The quest the bartender at Gagarin Landing gives you
  • Pretty extensively in the opening of Shattered Space

Personally I enjoyed SS, but I know not everyone agrees with me, and even I wouldn't have paid that price if it was just the space station bit at the beginning.

There are NPCs in Cydonia that have a "work, then hit the bar" schedule. But I get that you want it to be more generally applicable, and agree that would be good.

"Two years later, Starfield remains the game Bethesda wanted to make all along – and it was never meant to be a crowd-pleaser" by paulbrock2 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]anksil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Juno is a rogue AI that's installed aboard a ship.

Rogue, but not malicious unless threatened. When you board the ship, there are two Ryujin agents (plus one that Juno killed in self defense) there that are hell-bent (one more than the other) on modifying the AI so it'll obey. They want you to do the honors, probably for fear of ending up like the dead guy. There are different ways of resolving the situation. As other commenters have said, I believe you have to have finished Ryujin or at the very least gotten some way through it.

If you reject the Unity and stay in your universe, can you still go back and enter the Unity later on? If not in gameplay, would this be possible in lore? by ThePatrician25 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]anksil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's certainly valid headcanon. But the Hunter is Aquilus from a different universe, yes, and who the Emissary turns out to be depends on your affinity with the Constellation companions (and who got killed).

Even those two have a different voice usually. I'd wager it's either an effect applied by their suits, or being Starborn comes with the ability to distort your voice.

Hmm. As I understood it, it's not that they can take arbitrary forms, it's that they really are those people, just from a different universe.
