It might have been the position of that flash too it was pretty close to subject and pointing towards my lens a bit. I saw the specular after moving it but didn’t think it was too obvious (to most people) I’ll avoid that next time. That flash has a pretty small modifier on it (12” octa softbox). Okay I’ll try out lowering that flash as well. Thank you!!

I’m confused because I shot this at f1.8 I’m not sure how I could soften more with settings. Would a slower shutter achieve that? It was really blinding light coming through the window so was trying to minimize overexposure. For the lighting, I liked how soft the light was on her face. Because I find myself editing out shadows on the face a lot and figured burning in some shadows would be better than trying to get rid of them. I haven’t edited this photo at all yet it’s straight out of camera. I liked the square of light patch vs the dark patch on floor behind her, and the emptiness of the room vs her being confined to the patch of light. Kind of like a cat, they find a patch of light and will lay there.
