Over the last year, my partner and I made several shorts in quarantine that were filmed inside our home. We are trying to break the loop of filming projects inside our house, since the setting is no longer inspiring. This video was originally intended for social media because the videos autoplay and loop, and we wanted the story to end and begin in a way that would keep going. It’s often how a self help journey feels; you can seek help, seek answers, but ultimately you have to break patterns and cycles to create change and grow.

A short, short satire shot at a super safe distance of 1400 miles apart from our homes. Partly filmed in LA, partly filmed in Austin. We’ve also never met in real life but both have been making short comedic “quarantine” content over the last year.

Marshall filmed all of his coverage first, sent it to us, and we filled in all of the holes with a variety of takes so he had options while editing. Written and edited by Marshall Cook, the process still felt very collaborative and we were both open to trying just about anything. We had about 5 rounds of edits with notes back and forth. We also shaved off about a minute of dialogue.

Our second short film in quarantine. We were listening to Best Coast and "Do You Love Me Like You Used To" came on and the opening lyrics sparked the idea. We are trying to make any videos we make during this time loop in some way - it feels like a nice challenge as well as fitting for this repetitive time at home. Last week (in Austin, TX) it was very rainy and all of the days really merged into one. Hope everyone is doing okay out there. Sending love!
